    R/T Toner Rings On SRT Halfshafts

    Hemi 31 asked me to post this.

    Erik called me a few days ago to inquire about the interchangability of the R/T/SRT toner rings.

    The aftermarket SRT halfshafts do not come W/toner rings & the toner rings are usually a casualty when the stock halfshafts go South.

    I went out to the garage & removed the toner ring from my R/T halfshaft & viola, it fit right onto my spare SRT halfshft.

    So, you guys out there that need toner rings for your aftermarket halfshafts after you fupped duck the stock toner ring/halfshaft, can P/U an R/T halfshaft for a fraction of the cost of the SRT counterpart.




    426 RWHP/460 RWTQ on motor, 555 RWHP on a 150 shot of juice
    12.062 @ 113.97 on motor, 11.306 @ 121.87 on a 125 HP shot
    Stock 5.7 rotating assembly, still MDS enabled

    Not as good as a seperate source for the tonor rings themselves, but a lifesaver for those that need them!

    Why bring up shaft toner rings in the first place? Is there something we don't know about them?

    They cannot be purchased separate from the axles......and if an SRT owner gets aftermarket axles without tone rings....it's a cheaper way to go if he needs one.

    About a year ago GSM was trying to get a GB goig on ring & pinion sets. The ratios were something like 3.42:1 & 3.73:1.

    $800 a set!

    They claimed they would work W/HAL.

    I started a rant about improper/unusable ratios as well as incompatability W/HAL.

    W/my short drag radials I am running an effectibve 3.33 compared to 28" drag radials.

    I am clearing the traps @ nearly 6500 RPM @ 112 MPH. 6750 would get me to about 118 MPH.

    I think the 3.42 would be a bit short for the kind of power your car is putting down.

    Keep the 3.06s & 28" M&Hs, spray the he!! out of her, set your trans to "Paddle Hold" & wind her to 6750 @ 130 MPH in 3rd gear.

    That ought to get you into the 10s.

    So When is Richmond Gear, yes Richmond Gear in case they are searching here, going to have availble a Ring and Pinion Set AND PowerTraxx for the SRT rears!!!

    My guess won't be till the end of the 2nd quarter at least. I am holding off on the Quaiffe as of now till I find out more updates on the PowerTraxx carriers.

    THe question about the toner rings was raised by me a few days ago when looking into doing the rear end swap on my ride. I have an abundance source of SRT8 half shafts to pick from, but none of them had toner rings. And as Dan has pointed out, for the SRT guys that bust there shafts and rings, if they step up to the HD axles, they can just buy a R/T shaft for $120 and get the ring.

    Thanks a million Dan for going out to the garage to make sure this works! I owe ya a when we hook up again this year!
