    Not a Kill......But.....

I had a little run in with a 98 C5 Vette this morning.I pass him on the highway as he's getting on and he immediately gets behind me.I hammer on the gas a bit to see if he's really interested and the hop into the right lane.He pulls up next to me and I can hear this is no stock Vette.Oh well,it's to late now.So we hammer it and he pulls a car, then two but no more all the way to a speed I'd rather not say here.We switch lanes and go again....same result. We then slow and give eachother thumbs up and he points to follow. We get off the next exit and pull into a parking area where as he stops his exhaust sounds more like a ProStock car than a Vette. We introduce ourselves and he is shaking his head in disbelief that my 2 1/4 ton monster just held it's own against his 450RWHP Animal.I was just as surprised after hearing his exhaust and the stance of the car ,and some of the suspension components that could be seen from behind. We BS'd for a half hour or so and wound up exchanging #'s to hopefully meet up at a track some where for some fun.One of the best times I have ever had getting beat!

The TC felt great. No slippage at all. When the car downshifted it hit very hard....I liked that alot.

Nice story, Erik. Would be cool to see him again at the track after your mod list has been completed. Glad the TC is working out for you.

What mods have you done to your car hemi31? I'm guessing TC means TCM? I still want to make an immediate purchase on the B&G S2 and HEAT TCM S2, thinking another cheapo mod would be the 180' thermostat and leave it at that until fall.....glad to hear we can stick close to a 98 vette

    Great Story Erik!

So how much do you figure the TC contributed to that "You may pass me, but you won't shake me!" run?

High Flow Cats,Catback,CAI and Torque Converter(so far).If the Vette were stock it would have been the other way around.

Not sure how much on the highway Jaak. The downshifts feel stronger cause the RPM's are always right in the powerband but rolling on the highway I don't know if it would make a difference.

Thanks for the info...no reprogram yet? Are you waiting on something different or still on the fence on the B&G?

    great run

nice story, and a great example that you don't always need to win to impress.

I'm sure he was shocked to see that he could not put much distance on you, especially at the top end! Sounds like at really high speed you would have been even more of a challenge.

That TC sounds like one of the best mods I've seen for regular driving. Keep us informed!
