    No Mustang Fighter for Dodge

I know this has been said many times but if dodge doesn't make the Charger with a coupe option Ford will, once again, run off with all of the American coupe sales, since the new Corvette Z06 has 500-hp it will kill the Viper's sales with almost identical performance specs at a cheaper price even with the new hardtop Viper.

You're talking about a the Chrysler Firepower! concept. It's a Viper chassis with the 6.1 Hemi. I've read different reports stating anywhere FROM 425 to 450 HP. If they make it, it should be under $50K.

The only problem with this as a Mustang fighter is it's price. You can get a nice Mustang for under $30K. I have a feeling that the Firepower is aiming more for the Corvette market than the Mustang Market.

ford has had the coupe market for the last 2 years...so what would change? i still think they need to make the stratus coupe RWD, 3.5HO, and a manual. Maybe with a hemi option sometime later too...or the new 4.0 V6 that is rumored with 300HP, the 3.5HO standard, at 250 HP. that would make the car run REAL nice

I agree totally. I had an 01 Stratus R/T with the manual and it was pretty peppy. It only had 200HP but it had a lot of potential. A lot of guys at 2gstratus.org but forced induction INTO those things and created a monster. It's such a good looking car too. Just make it RWD and keep the manual tranny!

I haven't been in a new Mustang yet, but compared to the last model Mustang, the Stratus was a lot more comfortable on the inside and I thought it handled quite a bit better. FROM what I've heard though, Ford fixed those two of my complaints with the new Stang.

It would be cool if Dodge had a nice 2-door V8 to compete with the Stang. Makes me miss the Camaro.

But the new Monte Carlo has a 5.3L small block... so that's cool

A Stratus Coupe is not a Dodge.
    It's a POS mitsubishi.

And there WILL be a Charger SRT-8. I've seen the pilot cars here.

Yeah, I know the Stratus coupe is MOSTLY Mitsubishi, but DCX also owns a decent ammount of Mitsu. Regardless of which manufacturer has the most parts in it, it is a fun car to drive. It's a lot more refined than the outgoing Stang and handles better. The inside is a lot nicer and roomier too. Not to mention, It's a pretty nice looking car. If DCX were to take the general shape of the car, change it to RWD, DROP in the 3.5 that is in the Magnum SXT and perhaps offer a forced induction model, it could be one hell of a car. I know that will never happen, but those are my thoughts.

Are we not considering the Neon SRT-4 a Mustang Fighter?

For the price of a Mustang GT, you could get an SRT-4 with the Stage 3 kit and all of the goodies, and probably still have more than enough for some slicks to help with all of that spinning, a big aftermarket stereo, etc.

The base neon SRT-4 will do 0-60 in 5.8 and the quarter in the high 13s for 22k.

The stage 3 kit with turbo toys and high octane will boost the numbers FROM 230hp and 250 ft-lbs of torque to 355 hp at 5200 rpm and 365 ft.-lbs. For about $4,000 installed, you'll be in the 11s if you can manage the launch.

Aint got nothing, I got nothing to lose. I keep walking away these blues. The cup is broken, but it's half full. I got 100 miles to go before I get back to see my girl."

I agree! Front Wheel Drive is Wrong Wheel Drive for drag racing. I am not sure why people haven't figured that out yet
