New tuner hope

[SRT8Turbo]

Talked with the owner of a local mustang performance shop today. He happened to have a CSRT8 outside so I had to ask about it. He said it was about to be stroked and blown, he was just waiting for the tuning software. He said it should be available to him in 4-6 weeks. This guy is a very very good tuner, uses his mustang dyno to simulate everything from car weight to wind resistance of the vehicle, he has a mustang that runs stock heads, cam, with a blower that runs consistent 9.8's. He said he was very excited about tuning the dodges, so I hope it turns out good. I'm supposed to check back with him in a few weeks to see how the software is coming along.

Shop up here says the same thing. I haven't pushed them too hard because they're not supporting vendors, but the future does look bright!

These engines should unleash some freakish power numbers if someone ever cracks the tuning on them successfully.

apparently he said that whichever software they are going to use, the programmers have broken the code, they are just having a problem with making the flases permanent. He said the computers have been relearning their factory programming.

I wonder if the B&G flash will do the same thing after awhile and HAL will go back to the factory settings???

That is a pretty good question, unless you get the second PCM blank and the only tune it knows is the B&G

But the second PCM would not be totally blank because it is programmed to match your car's VIN so the factory settings have to already be input for it to even work in the car. Correct???

If Tim will be tuning SRT8s once he gets the ability, then I am in!! He tuned my 01 Mustang GT and picked up 12hp/14tq over the Diablo Chip that I had originally had in the car with his SCT tune. The guy is a beast on Stangs so if MPH is going to tune and mod SRT8s, be ready for some wicked s#$t!!! The guy is sick with FI and guarantees his work 10000%!!!

the B&G does not go back to stock.

With DCX's hold on their proprietary software, I doubt if anyone can do anything to the stock PCM, other than what B&G is currently doing. The only thing I would see as a possibility, is a 'go between' computer, such as the Unichips. Basically, an advanced version of the Jet chip. The Supercharger and Turbo makers are relying on similar things, as this is the only way to get around HAL.....
But, maybe I'm wrong......
