    SRT-8 Magnum

Motor Trend magazine has a short dittie on the 425 HP SRT-8 Magnum. According to the article, an SRT-8 Magnum is imminent. No pricing was discussed but like the 300C, the major difference was the 6.1 litre engine.

DCM is moving quickly to establish itself as the price/performance leader in the industry according to the mag article.

The major difference being a supercharged 6.1 liter hemi. This article over at Allpar.com says that the supercharger will probably be scrapped and only the 6.1 ltr Hemi will be available.

Magnum SRT-8: will they build it?

Have not heard much FROM the rumor mill on the Magnum SRT-8 for a while.
Are we SURE they are going to build it?
I'm holding off buying an RT as I don't need a new car until May -- but if it seems the Magnum SRT-8 is not likely, I would like to get a new car now.

I have subs to Car&Driver, Autoweek, and Road & Track. So far none of those trades had any info about SRT-8 type deal for the Magnum (and I read every page of these mags). I would speculate that Charger MIGHT see 6.1 engine, but it is unlikely for at least a year or two, because we would have that info by now. There is more profit in doing 300 with SRT-8 than a dodge product. Now wouldn't it be sweet if they put a Viper V10 INTO a Magnum!

If they do one I would expect the announcement to be at the NAIAS next month. But like apollo said there has been no mention, that I've read, of a SRT-8 in the trade mags. They new about the 300 and the Grand Cherokee SRT versions before they were announced so I would assume they would have also known about a Magnum SRT.

YES! They are going to build it! An SCCA race car driver, 4 time champion, and a good friend o fmine  , has test driven a mfr version of the SRT-8 Magnum. Couldn't tell me what the rear end ratio was, but he has decided to hold off on buying an RT and has put up his Evo for sale in preparation for buying the SRT-8 Magnum!

You didn't hear it form me!

Excellent. Now they just need to beef up the tranny a bit and we're all set.

Get your nose out of those printed high res pictures and get over to the online version of Autoweek. The LA auto SHOW includes a SRT-8 Magnum. The link to a .doc file shows that this is no longer a concept car:

"INFORMATION SUPPLIED BY DAIMLERCHRYSLER, All-New 2006 Dodge Magnum SRT8: Beefed-Up American Muscle"
