    Just sat in a 300C SRT8 - Photos

Well I just got back from a local dealer that had 1 of 2, I was told, 300C SRT8s in California. I have uploaded some photos I took to the following web site if you care to take a look. http://photobucket.com/albums/y141/qzking/ .

If you can't read the picture of the window sticker, the MSRP was $45K and then the dealer had another sticker next to it that looked real official, which I took a photo of, with "ADDED MARK UP" $12,000.00. We were there 10 minutes and never saw a salesman. Opened the hood, took pictures of the engine, passenger compartment & exterior, sat in and played with the SRT8 style bucket seats to see how the clearance was with the moon roof because I'm almost 6'6'. (It had plenty of head room without lowering the seat and with the seat all the way down I had a good 4 or 5 inches.) The back seat had no leg room at all with the seat adjusted for my heigth. Finally a salesman walked by and said that they had only allowed a couple of demos and gave us the impression we wern't going to get one so I didn't ask as it was on the showroom floor and I had no intention of buying it. He did say it had a real mean growl with the stock exhaust. It was a silver one and was beautiful and a black one has to be killer! He had 5 or 6 300 C's with the 5.7 and they were all marked up $5,000.00.

Next door at their Dodge dealership they had 3 or 4 RTs sitting out in the back, dirty & dusty. They had some more up front but I didn't even walk up there as I'm waiting for an SRT8. I think you could pick one of the RTs up for MSRP less a bunch since the 2006's are starting to roll.

I'm waiting for my Magnum and if it doesn't live up to my expectations I have the option to pass on it with this dealer. If that happens the prices on the 300C SRT8 will probably have come down to MSRP or close to it and I might just buy one of those instead. Not a bad fall back position!

That's a nice touch. My local dealer had a hand-scrawled note next to the real sticker, demanding a $10K mark-up. Looked like it was written by an 8-yr old.

If you do end up with an SRT-8, please post your experience here on this forum.

    dawg,
You can count on it. I've been working on this purchase for a year and am ready. I think I've found a real honest dealer here in So. Calif. and I actually got the refrence from this or one of the other sites we're all using. I'll let you know how it goes when I get the order confirmed. I just -mailed him with some info I got off the Brampton site forum.

Wow, do the 300Cs have more headroom than the Magnums, or is it the SRT8 seats that make the difference? I'm 6'6" also, and with my Magnum seat all the way down and back I have maybe 1/2" between my head and the headliner around the sunroof. But you said moon roof -- did they put something different in there that takes less vertical space?

Okay someone educate me here, being the poor uneducated immigrant that I am......

A dealer that charges $12,000.00 over MSRP, woul dmost likely be considered a price gouger.....an opportunist.........a crook

But around here he is a "honest" dealer? So what will be a dishonest dealer?....one that charges $30,000.00 over MSRP? $40,000.00

I am totally flabulated, yes I said flabulated!

I'll try to address all of the above posts here.

(redinorange) - Isn't "honest dealer" an oxymoron? (sic?)

(cucmonga red) Actually I have found a dealer that seems ethical locally. Not the dealer where I shot these pics.

(hemi rt awd) Sorry, but I didn't look at the engine photos while I was at the dealership and I now see it's dark on that side due to the flash. It did look like it had a much different air box configuration that the 5.7 but I'm not real sure what I was looking at or for. I'll try to drop back by and get another couple of shots if I can but this dealer is about 15-20 miles from the beach and I don't go that way often. Actually I try not to leave the beach at all.

(hemi rt awd) I don't have a Magnum yet so I can't compare the head room. I read some post on this or one of the other forums about head room this weekend so I was looking at that. All I can tell you is the 300 had lots of headroom for my 6'6" frame. I imagine someone out there knows if the 300 is taller and will post that info. If I go back for another engine shot I'll go next door and find an RT with the moon roof and check the head room and report back.

That dealership was one of the first ones I went to when I started my Magnum quest. I got hooked up with the internet manager and it looked promising with a deal a couple of hundred under list. But when the sales manger got involved the next day the "dealer markup" reared its ugly head. A salesman at another outlet of that dealer up in Tustin told me that that dealer "had no intention of adding a dealer markup". That changed the next day when I went back ready to buy. That is partly the basis for my poor attitude toward those thievin' b*st*rds.

Attitudes are contagious. Mine might kill you.

I'm sure that isn't actually a twin airbox as in two filters. Looks like a big resonator to me. Something I'd be getting rid of as soon as I could

Reminds me of the big old home plate on my Impala SS's LT1
