Post Jet chip test - RESULTS

Okay, I devoted a couple hours this morning to testing the effects of the Jet Stage 2 chip on my CSRT8. the car has the 180* stat, MF catback, Airaid CAI and Airaid TB spacer. All of these things were installed by the previous owner.

Let me start by saying this wasn't as accurate as it could have been were I willing to flog the car through a dozen 1/4 mile runs back to back, but I think it did result in some usable data nonetheless. I did 0-60 runs instead and used the original Gtech Pro. Tests were done on two sections of road, the same two every time. One proved to offer a little more traction, which can be seen in the numbers.

The car was loaded with stuff from a shopping trip, mostly in the trunk, so I figured why not leave it to help traction. It doesn't really matter as long as it's the same for each run. It turns out the new concrete road I used didn't offer much traction anyway. The car had a full tank of gas. Coolant temps were always right at 180*. Any run badly breaking traction was aborted. Traction control was off. I did everything I could think of to make sure everything remained as constant as possible.

Traction was not great, so I had to roll onto the gas pretty carefully. I made sure to do it exactly the same way each time.

    Okay, here's the results:

Base runs (didn't change anything from the way the car was when I bought it. Jet chip installed, no memory reset)

    #1 5.38 secs (road #1)
    #2 5.32 secs (road #1)
    #3 5.34 secs (road #1)

Removed Jet chip, no memory reset

    #1 5.24 secs (road #1)
    #2 5.34 secs (road #1)
    #3 5.19 secs (road #2 - slightly better traction)

Without Jet chip, memory reset by removing #11 fuse for 30 secs

    #1 5.21 secs (road #1)
    #2 5.35 secs (road #1)
    #3 5.28 secs (road #2 - slightly better traction)

Re-installed Jet chip, reset memory by removing #11 fuse for 30 secs (again)

    #1 5.33 secs (road #1)
    #2 5.29 secs (road #1)
    #3 5.30 secs (road #1)
    #4 5.18 secs (road #2 - slightly better traction)

All I can say is WOW. This was a pretty limited test, but it sure doesn't look like installing the chip or resetting the ECU did anything for me. Certainly not anything much at least. There's no way I 'm seeing 20+ hp from it! What a joke.

    thx

yep, thanks for posting, but jet has been the subject of numerous tests over the years before Diablo and it always sucked. Modern adaptives in software quickly negate any benefits.

That's why I reset the memory as part of my test. Turns out it's not the adaptives at all. It's just the the chip doesn't do anything!

Well, you can LOL at the previous owner for throwing his money away on both the JetChip and the TB spacer.

I guess when Jet says gains up to 25 hp are possible, zero is included.

I did notice that it shifted slightly firmer with the chip installed. Could it have been my imagination? Not sure if they mess witht eh tranny programming at all.

I left it in there for now.
