    Jet Chip

Has anyone tried the stage 2 jet chip in the SRT 8?
It did well for my RT. I know it did not for others. (build date) Imput would be helpful. Jet claims 18-22 RWHP

    DONT DO IT!!!!!!!

A stock srt-8 tune is very good. Its actually shown to have slight ping at the top of the rpm band. The superchips, if it will even work, will lean it out more and advance timing....not good.

Even if there is a chance of working, the risks are to much.

I have the Jet II in my SRT8, and so do quite a few others. I have not had any trouble since putting it in. The above post mentions pinging even in stock tune. This is the first I've ever heard of that issue, and second, the computer should not allow that to happen. The knock sensor would detect any detonation long before pinging was ever heard and would reduce the timing advance. Moreover, the stock a/f ratio on an srt8 is VERY rich, and not lean by any stretch of the imagination.

Have I noticed any power increase? Hard to say really. Those that have done before and after dyno's have reported anywhere from 5-10 RWHP or in that vicinity. Hey, it's the only game in town until srt8tuning gets going. They will reflash your ECM, and plan on having a hand-held tuner soon.

    Good luck.

i wouldnt be surprised to see hp tuners come out for something for the dodge.

I've heard from a few people that during dyno the 6.1 will ping at top rpms. Your right about hte timeing getting pulled, i forgot about that. I'de still be worried though.

Just curious, where have you gotten this information. It runs very contrary to what the ECM is designed to do, which is to pull timing at the slightest detection of detonation.

Also, several people with SRT8's have sampled their a/f ratio and found them to be rich. I beleive SRT8 engineers even reaffirmed this in a q&a.

Regarding risks and the Jet chip. I have not heard or read of any problems with the Jet chips outside of an occassional initial electrical glitch on a window switch that is resolved by reseeting the ECM.

The only real risk is spending $200.00 and being dissapointed with the gains.

i know the a/f ratios are safe, but ive spoken with a few tuners that have said that at top end the timing is right at ping level, even heard ping b4. I understand the computer pull timing, but it neesd a reason first, which is ping.

Im not starting an arguement, i just know the jetchip is not designed for the srt8, and would be careful with what i did to my 40,000+ car.

I truely dont bealive this car will benefit from jetchip, except for a slightly leaner a/f condition. But thats not the only signal it modifies, which would make me curious.

    jet chip

they now have a jet chip with a totally different part# than the one for the RT. They do have a stage 2 chip designed for the SRT8 claiming a RWHP gain of between 15-18. Where can $200.00 get one?
