Ideas for Winter rims and snow tires for SRT8?

    Hello,
Can anyone help with suggestions for Winter rims and tires for my new Magnum SRT8? I have been searching and haven't found a definitive answer on what the best Winter package is. I have heard a lot about the Pirelli Scorpions on Magnum RTs but wondering if someone knows how these will work on the SRT8 and what replacement rims there are out there as well. Apologies if this is a repeat question. Snow will be here in Toronto in a month or so.
    Thanks!

Hey Glen, I'll be watching this thread! I've been wondering the same as I'll be facing the same, but not until next winter. I'm also curious as to how your SRT does through the winter.

My concern with the SRT is putting on snows that will still clear those brakes!

Yeah, I knew that really. I'm hoping to get a wheel+tire package for under $2k and looking forward to some power slides with ESP full off. Probably in very large empty car parks to begin with!

    Thanks

Some of us don't want to buy beaters. We'd rather drive the SRT through the winter and get a new one when it's time.

The Tire Rack has a nice set of 18" wheels and Pirelli Scorpions for $1,356.

I am ordering a set next week.

I did some searching and I can not find any tires other than the Goodyear F1's that come on the car in the OEM size. The cheapest rims I found were 289 each. If you actually find a tire/wheel package that fits I think you would be spending around $3,000 You could find a winter beater for that kind of cash.

I live in Upstate NY, and with the bad winter forecast for the North East this year and after last winters horrifying experiences I am not even going to attempt to drive my Magnum RT this winter. You can search this forum and find as many drivers claiming there RT's were great in the snow. In my opinion the HEMI's should be saved for dry pavement driving.

I don't think the 18" wheels will fit over the Brembo's on the SRT-8

I will have the 18"x8" BSA 264 rims installed on my SRT8 later this week. (The assure me that they fit, given the position of the spokes. The 18" is not the problem, it is the profile of the back side of the spoke that has to miss the Brembo. Which is why the factory RT wheel doesn't fit.)

The Scorpion Ice & Snow is in zero supply for Canada this season, so I had little choice but to go for the Dunlop Grandtek WT M2 ( P235/60R18 ).

The rims priced at C$189 each. The tires hurt at C$263. So with TPS valves, et al, the total was C$2044. About US$13.99 ;-)

If you look at the design of this wheel, the spokes come out pretty far - just the like the SRT wheel. I believe that is why Tire Rac says it will clear the calipers.

It is not a stunning wheel but it is decent, cheap, and will be show with snow tires.

Yet, these are the only wheels Tire Rack recommends for the SRT8 Magnum and 300 when you use their selector.
