Just wondering what gains have been seen on the dyno for a stock MSRT with the Diablo tunes.
Also, what do custom tunes cost?
Thanks guys

I picked up 40 rwhp having mine custom tuned with the diablo. In CA our gas sucks, so the canned tune actually made us lose a couple hp. Need to go rich 13-15% here. Since FL gas doesn't usually have the ethanol blend I'm not sure you'll pick up as much getting it custom tuned. You should be able to find a dyno shop that will sell the tuner and dial it in on the dyno for around $450. If not you should be able to buy it online for around $350 and have a shop dial it in for $100-$150. The shop I went to charged $125 to dial it in. I just had the 180 tstat and the K&N cai when this dyno was done (and the diablo of course).

SRT8 with no mods will pick up around 15 hp to the wheels. I have dyno proven this on my dyno back in VA...

Are you looking for justification in buying a Diablo, or just curious about documented gains? If you're on the fence, I can only say you wont be disappointed. I haven't had my MSRT8 dynoed (at least not yet). For me the big difference is how the car feels. It's absolutely night & day. I went from stock to a B&G, and was somewhat happy with the change. It was noticeably better from a SOTP perspective, shifted much better, and felt quicker. The Diablo with a 91 octane CAI tune, is quite different. The car is alive, and wants to run. Torque management is reduced significantly, so much so that the car will go sideways without really trying. That's not with ESP reduced at all. Everyone that has driven the car pre & post Diablo is amazed at the difference. It feels like the car I wanted, & expected when I bought it. It's impossible to ignore. I really want a custom tune, but will probably wait til I've done another upgrade or two. In the interim, the car never fails to make me smile.

Not to hijack...but talk to me. I just started datalogging and the results have been depressing. I'm at a mile of altitude, and I'm getting 5-6 of knock retard on the 93 tune and 3 or more on knk retard on the 91 octane. Usually you can run a coupla points lower octane up here. Did you find that the ethanol added (10%) didn't work well with the canned tunes?
For the OP....seriously, even if you didn't gain so much as 1 ponypower, the tuning changes for sheer fun, driveability, flexibility with changing tire size, fans, etc....all worth it.

Thanks guys for the info. I'm trying to see what the Diablo has compared to the new SCT tuner and what it will provide. I know the SCT doesn't come with canned tunes and must be custom tuned. I been shown a 20 hp gain with it tuned on an SRT...maybe I'll hold off until there is more results. It is more expensive for now, but it is brand new out for the Hemi's.
Take care,
Christopher

Strange... all accounts I have seen were between 30 and 40hp gains on a stock or near-stock one.
The AFR is extremely critical in this car. I originally started data logging and saw KR of about 4 at low rpm up to 11 at high rpm. I started searching the forums and saw several stories of motor death due to these running too lean. I added a few % rich and still had KR so decided to have it done by a pro. The shop used a sniffer and the guy knows afr. He said it should be in the 12.2-12.4 range, got it there and we picked up 40 rwhp. My car ONLY had the CAI and a 180 tstat and picked up 40 hp. The $450 or so I have in the diablo and the dyno is dollar/hp as good as NOS! Spend the money and have a pro do it.
Okay then. Since this thread has gone this direction, sounds like we need to make a list of the good tuners in every major city. Somebody want to start this thread?![]()

Coby - not quite mile high, but @ 3500 ft asl, using eth. blended 94 Oct., still seeing KR on EITHER the 91 or 93 Oct. tune. Running the CAI tune. Being this high, I'm not sure I should be adding fuel to the CAI tune. I need to get a custom dyno / tune.
I've has mixed results with the Diablo. 1st install was horrible - worse then stock. Battery was weak, and not allowing full flash or something. Got that fixed, much better, but still not what others have been describing. Decided to wait to really get some miles on the car ('07 SRT Charger w/ only 2000 miles on it), and also heard it it may need some time. Was warm here yesterday so took it for a burn. Felt REALLY good, turned around on the hwy and it burned all the way thru 1st and half thru 2nd...with ESP fully on. About 10 mintues later, stopped, turned ESP off via dash, stomped on it - nothing - just a little spin and gone. Still felt better better then stock up top, but nothing special. 100% stock less Airaid CAI....running r17.
I'll try logging some and see what that tell me..perhaops try adding some fuel, but this high, can't see it helping.
I do want to get this sorted out thou...

Problem with this is if a tuner didn't show as much HP increase as the next tuner is he a bad tuner? Not neccesarily. Some cars do better on Dyno's than others. Plus you have to look at all the other factors that will effect HP output.
Personally, I will be in Kennasaw(Injected Engineering) March 1st for a custom tune. Obviously some extra HP is nice but a piece of mind knowing that A/F,KR etc.. is dialed in, is extremely important to me as well.
I wish we could get a tune around here for $125. CMR tunes around here range from $450-$600 just for the tune.
Well, at least that's similar to what I'm seeing. I think I've found some non ethanol blended fuel so I'll do some more logging this week to see if there's a difference.
Do you have a 180deg tstat? I'm wondering if your experience with it burnin' through first 'n second and then getting weaker was temp related. I do know I can shave about .2 sec off my 0-60 run before it heats up. Best I've done so far is 5.42 before it warms up...then it is around 5.58 to 5.65ish pretty consistantly. I'm ordering a new tstat soon.
