    Horse Power Axle Rating?!?!?

I have an 06 SRT8 Magnum. I have the basic bolt on mods done so far with a CMR tune. Dynoed at 400hp to the wheels. I was wondering if anyone knew the hp rating on the stock rear axles. I am afraid of breaking one at the track especially if I put drag radials on. Thanks alot guys!!

So far there is no number that can be quoted....it's quite possible that you could snap a half shaft while running drag radials...but it's also possible that you might not have any problems too.

I know people running quite a bit more hp than that and haven't had an issue yet. But, I know people who have ran about that and have had a snap happen...so if there is a good answer I don't know it.

Its not so much the HP rating, but the shock applied to the axles when loading them. You're already in the danger zone at 400hp. That's about what I run right now and I broke one on street tires. If I were you, I wouldn't run drag radials unless you have an axle fund.

    traction

That's excellent advice. The halfshafts are known weak points.

After 35 years of drag racing, in my experience it's traction that breaks things, not HP. Stay with street tires and watch out for a well prepped track!
