Sounds like the s/c assembly is flopping around when you hit a bump, adding resistance to the serpentine system (ie a/c going on) seems to make it shift some under the hood and you get a repetitive slight bump/clicking noise. Probably want to pull the front end off and take a good look at the whole setup. I saw something of your post saying you found a long bolt laying at the end of your driveway....I hope you kept it. Now, get the s/c system back in place right and all you'll have to worrying about is your engine melting down. Best of luck with that

There should be 4 bolts in the A/C compressor. Is the bolt you found about 6" long and Black oxide? If so it belongs to the A/C pump.

Do you know what a A/C compressor looks like? It bolts up to a bracket attached to the engine....look around it and see if there are any missing bolts

    Guys Cool it.

He has a valid question about his car, and is looking for help.

Negative comments on his purchase do nothing to help him, and does nothing to help the image of the forum.

Is the noise only coming from the SC pipe? have you tried to adjust the pipe so that it doesn't hit the AC compressor? I would put a wedge between the pipe and the AC to see if the noise goes away. If so, then it's the pipe and needs adjustment. If the noise is not going away, it could be your exhaust X pipe is hitting the cross-member. Good luck bro.

Clanking noise aside (that seems fairly obvious, and you have figured out that you have to move the pipe), the whole thing sounds like ass. Something is certainly wrong somewhere in there.

Sounds like a bad bearing to me, but I'm no s/c expert. The whine sounds "off" and all that clanking and tapping just sounds awful. It also seems as though your car isn't idling properly either. It varies a LOT and can't seem to find a level spot to idle at.

i know it sounds bad. but the RPMs do not jump around. I used the guage cluster display to watch them and they dont bounce around much at all...

Ok, it might just have sounded that way. Could also have just been your A/C making it sound like that.

Check your dash light thread, I think I have an answer for you over there...

I'm not making smart alec remarks, you asked "how do I check that out?" in response to Hemi31's statement that there should be 4 bolts in the A/C compressor. Asked you if you knew that a a/c compressor looks like and what you should be looking for.

I'm not acting like your stupid, but it seems like your grasp of mechanical workings is lacking, or you wouldn't be asking the simple stuff of why is my s/c system shifting around and clanking into the overflow tank. I'd guess somebody with basic skills would have been through the serpentine system and any additional pulley's on the car already before asking stuff like this. Not trying to be a smart ass...just trying to point out the basics that you are asking about.

i know more thn most about mechanics. i rebuilt motors before. never had a SC before. i have had a turbo but that is a whole different type of setup. I am just wanting to ask the expert people with a supercharger setup like mine their opinions since there knowledge is greater than mine in that area. such as 1BAD4DR, everything i ask he has an answer or knows where to point me in the right direction for the answer. I do not think that the questions i am asking are all that "lacking". why tear everything apart when i can probably get a simple answer without tearing everything apart
