Had a little fun with a Ford Lightning SVT today.

Coming home from the beach today I had a real slick looking Lightning messing around with me. We finally found a clear spot and he lined up behind me at the light. A/C off. ESP off. Launched in D with no wheel spin, him either that I could tell but I was pretty busy. I was pulling him pretty easily through 3rd gear and had to shut down. Had him by 3-4 car lengths by then. I know he was into it as he had followed me off PCH and stayed on my arse up to the light and I know what my car can do and he was right there for a little while. Looked like he had tuned exhaust and it was definitely lowered. Real nice white one.

Didn't look up the specs on these things but heard they were real quick and was the reason for he Dodge Viper truck. Anyone have more experience or any info about them?

Sounds like you ate his lunch! A local Ford dealer has a radio add that states " The Hemi's are quaking in their boots" , refering to Hemi Ram vs Lightning. No mention of SRT10's. Silly Fords!

    formerice,
Since I posted that I checked out the Lightning SVT's specs and he really should have done a lot better than that, if not pulled me. Especially if he had the aftermarket exhaust!

I guess it was either a driver thing or I've got a pretty darn strong car, according to the numbers (0-60 in 5.6) that I read.

    Who knows?

PS: And he didn't look over as he passed me when I turned left at the next light and gave him the "peace sign" either.

More like silly, over priced SRT10.

For $10,000 you could get a brand new Lightning that was only 2 tenths slower than the SRT10 in the 1/4 mile. That's with 120 less horsepower than the SRT.

An L with nothing more than exhaust, DRs and a pulley will lay down low-mid 12s all day long. They're nothing to sneeze at, thats for sure.

You don't have to burn books to destroy a culture, just get people to stop reading them.

    KW,
I was a Ford guy before the MSRT8 and just loved that SVT truck, and from what I read today, it's a real MrFr! I am also assuming that you meant that you could get an SVT for $10K less than the SRT10. No a bad deal there and no wing, wich I hated! But loved the 6-speed on the SRT10!

Never sneezed at the SVT! Not even a sniffle. Just passing on what went down. I think I may have surprised him at that light as he had been buzzing around me on PCH and I wasn't going for it, due to my "familiarity" with the local cops radar spots and the traffic conditions. But he followed me off of PCH and was driving up on me like he wanted some. He got some!

    2001 Ford F-150 Lightning 5.2 13.9
Despite weighing in at 5618 pounds (479 more than the regular-cab SRT-10) and employing a power-robbing automatic, this truck's performance still qualifies as exceptional. The Quad Cab's 5.6-second 0-to-60 time was 0.7 second slower than the regular cab's, and the quarter-mile was 0.6 second off at 14.2 seconds. The Quad Cab squealed its tires to a 0.83-g skidpad rating, 0.03 g less than its two-door sibling, and registered a lofty 147 mph top speed, just 6 mph slower.
So the SRT10 regular cab pulled a 13.6 in the 1/4

    not bad
