    gas mileage getting better :D

2400 on the clock and im amazed at the gas mileage this thing gets when im romping on it all the time.
week before with a lot of highway@80-90mph-302/17.4=17.3.....48mph avg
    last weeks fillup-271/17.5=15.4..... 37mph avg
    today-274/16.7=16.4....38 mph avg

pretty much same driving all the time with the same commute every day. was 14.9 with the commute first couple weeks i got it. i think my tires are a little low too so there might be more in her

as a comparison i was getting about 15mpg in the awd trying to drive to conserve gas. and the ranger was only getting about 14.9-15.2

    it'll get better

pile up the miles and it gets better.

at almost 9k now and this car is much faster than new.

BTW, its overall average since new is 17.4 mpg! Includes all driving. Figured, not EVIC mileage. I track mileage religously to decide on certain maintenance procedures.

    One fantastic machine.

Yesterday I did a little experiment. I really don't care much about mileage, otherwise I'd have bought something other than a gas-swilling 8 cylinder that is positively drunk with power. Having said that, I was curious as to my "real time" mpg, especially since we recently all switched to 10% ethanol here in VA. Here are the results:

HWY, windows closed, no air, pre-ethanol = 24 mpg
HWY, windows closed, no air, 10% ethanol = 22.4 mpg
HWY, windows closed, air on, 10% ehtanol = 21.5 mpg

To my surprise my mileage is getting worse. I have nearly 10,000 miles and the only difference in my vehicle is ethanol. I'd read threads here and elsewhere claiming that ethanol offered reduced mileage but had no real proof. If appears that ethanol made my car 7% less fuel efficient. Interesting. Anyone else?

I checked ours today. we are just under 20 mpg. We put 218 miles (mostly highway) on her this weekend and are now at 4000 miles on the car. Seems much better than 2800 miles ago.

We drove to Port Everglades from Orlando for a Cruise and the Magnum got an actual 17.33mpg. This was at 80-81mph with the A/C blowin', and full of luggage. (You know how women are..)

What I cant figure out is WHY these cars have such a crappy OD gear? A .80 has NO PLACE in this vehicle!

I came to the sight to see about gas mileage for the SRT8. I had my RT at the dealer today and while I was there I drove an SRT8 and just loved it. The mileage was my concern besides spending the money on the car. So I gather from here that most people are getting 17 all around and somewhere in the low 20 on the highway. Is that correct? I get around 18 combined and 23 on the highway with the RT but for some reason I got 24 on a long trip the other day. Anyway it dosen't look like you are giving up too much by getting the SRT8.
