    Free Mods

i have my car for two weeks so i think its time for mods to start ...so here is a list of the free beginner mods to do..if you can think of anything else please let me know

    1. drill hole in stock thermostat or change it
    2. dremel TB and manifold inlet couple mm
    3. AC mod colder AC for summer
    4. move IAT to colder location
    5. cut open the break duct opening( driver side )to get cold air for stock airbox
    6.

i have a pic of how to do the AC mod... all you have to do is remove both hoses from firewall and then just connect them together..

so what you are doing is stoping HOT water from entering passenger compartment big big difference

i will add pictures as i do the rest of these mods

    cheers

Call me crazy, but isn't there a baffle preventing warmth from the heater core from entering the cabin when the A/C is in use?

Don't go messing with your thermostat! SRT Engineers have warned on several occaisions to never run a cooler thermo because of how rich we're already running. You can do some serious damage.

Does it affect heat in the winter, or do you have to change it back for that?

just put it back to stock in winter or you could just put a valve stick that inline so all you have to do is open it in winter

I am running a cooler Tstat and to determine whether or not my car was running richer, I checked the air/fuel ratios on the dyno. There was, and is, alot of talk from so many people about how running a cooler Tstat would/will make the car run way too rich. I started believing the talk, until I saw the dyno readings.

Run 1 is with eng temp at 177
Run 3 is with eng temp at 205 (stock Tstat opens at 203)

From what I see, the engine ran richer the hotter it got (until about 5000 RPM, and then they were almost identical).

    i agree

the water temp has nothing to do with air/fuel i think only when the air gets colder going into the motor then the iat sensor will tell the PCM to richen the mix as the air is more dense when its cold..

sorry Bongo is wrong .. i have been tuning my supercharged ls1 chevy truck for 2 years with EFILIVE and i also have a wide band hookedup all the time whenever the truck is running...motor temp has nothing to do with air/fuel..

some cars and trucks with big motors have to reach a higher temp to pass emitions test then they get the green light from the authoritys to build it and sell it as street legal on road car.....

I have the 180 thermo and I would use that instead of drilling my stock one. Come on, it was like $4 at Advanced Auto, don't go drilling where you don't need to (coming from a guy who works for an oil company that sounds strange doesn't it?).

But wouldn't drilling something needlessly be the Aggie Injuneareeng way? hehehe... j/k.

BTW - I am really digging the new paint job. I also didn't realize the roof rack was available for the SRT8's.

a cooler engine will run leaner ... the PCM is going to richen up the fuel curve as the engine gets hotter as a hot engine is prone to detonation. Common sense guys
