    Engine Noise!

Hey y'all, I'm out of town and my wife called me this morning saying that the Maggie was making a hell of a racket...........

She said that it sounded like a piston had come loose......... Now I know that is impossible but then all of the sudden it stopped.

I've heard of the valve springs breaking but, again there was no catistrophic failure so.......

    Anyone ever had this problem???

    thanks Jay

We had a stock 6.1 short block that the wrist pin came loose on with about 800 miles on the short block. The lock either wasn't seated or failed. I head it was a problem with the 6.1's that DCX kept pretty quiet.

It could be a ring land came loose and is knocking around. I'd try pulling the plugs and taking a look followed by a compression check.

    ???

sure is unlikely to be anything like a wrist pin. Those rarely heal once they get noisy!

Sounds like a lifter issue that cleared itself up. I've heard that happen. We all know what the stealership will say: "that's normal. They all do that".

    Hope everything turns out well.
