Don't use caliper paint to paint your SRT wheel badge

I did this mod this week using caliper paint from Autozone. Frankly, it looks fine; however, the paint dries so quickly that it does not go on as evenly as I would have liked. Plus, if you make a mistake (and you will), you need to work VERY fast to get it off the wheel.

If I had to do it over again I'd try nother paint.

The end result looks good, but learn from my experience.

If you taped off the entire area do you think one could do this properly? Or is the paint's drying properties the main problem? I'm dying to do red calipers.

    I just re-did mine yesterday.

    A couple of things:

I took the wheels off and laid them flat.
Edit (add) - Might be a good idea at this point to run over it with a metal cleaner so the paint has less chance of sticking
I scraped off the clear coat with a pointed file (yes I slipped a couple of times.)
I used touch up paint - the brush side.
After it dried for just a while, I took a metal cleaner on a rag and rubbed vigorously to take the paint off the wheel area. No masking needed.

I used Duplicolor touch up. The kind that comes with either the pen side or the brush side.

Lay it on kinda thick so it levels on its own. Don't mess with it too much after laying it on because it will start to clump. This stuff dries fast. Wipe it off in around 10 minutes.

Roy, I'll snap a pic this week when the car gets back from the body shop. Having the RK hood put on right now.

The SRT wheel paint mod is a god one I think. Mine turned out fine, i just wouldn't use the caliper paint if I had to do it all over.
