On monday morning, I dropped off my 300C SRT8 at Birmingham Chrysler in Troy, MI for a few simple repairs. The car was spotless. I've always thought that if you bring the car to them in immaculate condition they will have more respect for it, and as a result treat the car better. I printed off the coolant bulletin and the rotor tsb, and provided them to the service rep. Both had pretty explicit instructions on how to perform the repairs. It took them 2 days (from 8am Monday to 5:30pm Tuesday) to do the coolant gunk tsb, rotor tsb and fix the trans o-ring leak. After waiting that long, I expected everything to be perfect. Not the case.
After two full days at the dealer and many lies about why it wasn't completed yet, I go to pick it up. The car is FILTHY (coolant residue and fingerprints everywhere), and the coolant is grossly overfilled! Also, they didn't replace the pads so the brakes are for crap until the pads flatten out. I was hoping that the coolant only appeared over filled because the engine was hot, so I decided to drive it home. As it turns out, the coolant was so overfilled that it started blowing steam from under the hood on the way home from the dealer. The overflow bottle filled up and it started squirting coolant all over the engine and exhaust.
Here's a pic to show what an awesome job they did of cleaning out that coolant system. (intake removed for a better picture). Obviously they didn't clean or replace the coolant bottle.
I'm sorry this isn't a very well thought out post, but I'm too angry to make more sense of it right now. Tomorrow I will wash the car and determine how many new dings, scratches and wheel gouges there are.
Avoid Birmingham Chrysler in Troy, MI!
Dave
