    Can this be for real?

Gotta give props to West Oaks Chrysler out in Westlake/Thousand Oaks off the 101 in SoCal.

I talked my girlfriend into getting a Crossfire to replace a truly lousy Land Rover. They had one in stock that was a demo, and she got a really good deal on it, but they needed to address some slight exterior cosmetic issues before she could take the car.

Long story short, the work will take longer than they thought it would, and since she's already gotten rid of her old car, they said they'd give her a loaner Crossfire. They ask her which one she'd like, and she points to a brand new Crossfire SRT6. "Ummm, honey...they ain't gonna loan you that" I say. The salesman says let me jot down some info from the car and get the keys. Hmmmm...

As we were leaving, the GM motioned to us across the parking lot. Uh Oh...here's where they say that "there's been a mistake...here's a Neon instead."

He approaches and says "We have a convertible Crossfire SRT in the showroom. If you'd rather take that, just give me a few minutes to pull it out."

    "Nah...that's OK...this one's fine."

Anyway, big ups to a dealer that seems to know how to treat customers.

p.s. They don't add any "greed tax" to SRT's either..

so which one did she get, the convertible or the SRT6? the convertible is great for cruising but that SRT6 is smokin' fast. whichever she got, i'm sure she'll enjoy it.

You know you are gonna have to upgrade to the SRT now that you have been running around in that.

It just won't be the same after driving that.

Crossfires are selling worse than a 1,400 calorie hamburger at and anorexic's convention. Thats why they were so willing to give it as a loaner.

You don't have to burn books to destroy a culture, just get people to stop reading them.

Also, they probably hope driving the srt will make her want to upgrade to an srt in her purchase.

They're either nuts or desperate. The SRT-6 Crossfire has a harsher ride than an unsprung conestoga wagon going through The Badlands of North Dakota. There's no way I'd consider one of those. My dentist would like for me to get one, however, since he'd get the job of fixing all the loose fillings I'd get from riding around in that thing.

She'll likely be MUCH happier with the regular Crossfire, which has a much nicer ride from what I hear.

She drove away in a shiny new black SRT6 coupe. There were about 4 or 5 SRT6's on the lot, and only two or three regular Crossfires.

I drove it last nite and it is rough around the edges. The motor pulls really well, but has a raw quality that would wear on me after awhile. The exhaust tone is kinda raspy & weird. I've never met a V-6 that I liked...

Anybody who complains about the SRT8's ride should take a drive in one of these. The SRT6 ride is incredibly harsh. Handling felt great, at least on my 15 mile drive. I really wanted to take it up on Mullholland Highway and see how it'd do. On the track, I'm sure this car would rip, but in my world it would drive me nuts. The only thing firmer than the suspension are the seats. They have barely any padding on them, and they don't adjust back far enough for me. The autostick operates differently than the Magnum as well, it took a minute to get used to it. At my size, I don't fit in the car too well as it is, headroom is very tight. I haven't driven the regular Crossfire, but she did, and she loved it.

On the plus side, despite the rough nature, there were no rattles...unlike my MagSRT:(. The interior looks nice enough, but they use a weird silver paint on the center console and shifter that looks and feels cheap.
But the car is a pretty good looking piece, a well executed design.

It's common knowledge that Crossfires aren't selling well... that's why I was able to get her such a great deal on it. Even the dealers finance guy was impressed. But that shouldn't take away from the fact that the guys there treated us very well. She had already finalized the purchase on her car, they had nothing to gain at this point other than good will.

I was mentioned to one of the salesmen the niggling problems I'm having with my Magnum SRT, and he took the time to walk to the car with me and look it over to see what can be done. I didn't buy my car ther...now I wish I did.

Westoaks Chrysler Dodge was my delivering dealer and services my car. They are the nation's largest selling Mopar Performance parts dealer in volume.

They are pretty much okay. It all depends on who you work with. I work with Jeff S. in service. Let's just say that not only did he state that their Star Scan not be able to change the speedo calibration for my 20 inch Toyo's, but he was going to charge me $90.00 to do it. So, as far as being a cool dealer, everything is relative.

They do not mark up over sticker on anything. But you will have to pull teeth in order to get any type of discount or other benefit in a deal. I was able to get something, but it took work and perseverence.

If anyone needs a name there, please let me know.

Yeah... I realize it's like swimming with sharks. You may not get bit this time, but stay out of the water if you have a choice. I'm just saying they were helpful to us. After dealing with other dealers, it was a refreshing change.

On a side note...They did have the Chip Foose designed Magnum RT sitting in the showroom a few weeks ago. Not my cup of tea, but they sure seemed proud about it.
