I'm 99% sure that the Magnaflow high-flow cats are not CARB legal.

Figure you have about 6 years until your first smog check. My friend with his 02 silverado just got his first dmv notice for a smog check in CA. If you bought your car used you may have to get it every 2 years right away, I'm not sure...

That is correct. They aren't CARB approved yet. I also heard that shops in CA won't touch your cats (remove them) unless they are damaged. Don't know if it's true, but the person who told me was pretty up tight about it.

Technically no shop in the United States is supposed to touch your cats unless they're damaged. Its a Federal law.

It helps if you have a good relationship with your mechanic/exhaust shop, they're into hot-rodding, you pay in cash, and bring the parts yourself. Or you can just do it on your back in the garage, its really not that hard.

The SRT8 tubes are 2.75" the rt are 2.5". The magnaflow hi flow cats for the srt8 are part #16420. Most people who have them claim its the best exhaust mod. I'd rather just buy an extra set of stock pipes and jam a screw driver in them until they're true hi flow cats. Its illegal either way...

THEY MIGHT PASS THE TAILPIPE PART OF THE TEST, AND MAYBE EVEN THE VISUAL INSPECTION. BUT IF YOU GET BUSTED RUNNING THEM YOU WILL GET TO PAY A NNICE FINE. BUT I HAVE THEM ANYWAY.

I have the JBA high fllow cats, after warm up, there is no odor at all.

The cats are made by Magnaflow, I talked with the Tech guy from Magnaflow at the SEMA show.
He assures me that after 20K or more miles, there is no reason they will not pass the CA smog test other than visual failure.

Who would know they are not stock?

I saved my stockers just in case, maybe just change 'em out before the test, then but the higgh flows back on...no biggie!

Except that they throw codes on most 6.1s.
