    Anyone got one yet?

There are a lot of people on this forum which are also part of other forums. Forgive me for being a little impatient but I want to hear from someone who has this SRT-8 beast... PLEASE!!!! I saw a link to a dyno of the new SRT-8 and I'm sure there has to be someone out there who has at least driven it. Thanks guys... I just had to get that out.

I will probably wait a year until I decide what model I want. Until then, I will stick with my Impala.

    Yeah. Confusing, aren't I.

Let's put it this way. I am waiting until 06' to get an SRT-8.

Ignore my last comment. I was hungry.

Based on when they stopped producing 2005's and started taking orders for the 2006's this year, don't wait too long or you'll be buying a 2007!

Does the SRT-8 also have the same multi-displacement engine system that the Magnum HEMI has?

One of the Dodge salesmen told me that he took a ride in it, and you could
almost watch the gas needle drop.
    Somthing like 8MPG?

Nope the 6.1 in the SRT cars does not have that system . Also it does not drink gas as bad as that .

That salesman sounds like an idiot. Never talk down one of you own products to sell another. He sounds like he is trying to move you into a regular hemi (which he probably has in stock).

The 6.1 does NOT have MDS. It is rated at 14/19 mpg but most road tests seem to hover around 14 mpg. You will probably lose ~4mpg versus the 5.7

8 mpg is a joke. You would have to run it at wide open throttle half the time for that.

    SRT8 Gas Mileage

Here is another way to look at it:

Using figures from Road & Track (to keep it consistent):

    The 5.7 does

    0-60: 5.6
    1/4 mile: 14.1
    1/4 speed: 101 mph
    80-0: 227
    60-0: 126
    skidpad: 0.79g
    slalom: 62.4
test mpg (real world, not EPA): 18.3

    for the 6.1

    0-60: 4.9
    1/4 mile: 13.3
    1/4 speed: 108.3 mph
    80-0: 208
    60-0: 122
    skidpad: 0.90g
    slalom: 66.5
test mpg (real world, not EPA): 16.0

That is a huge increase in performance in every category. But would about gas mileage?

Well, I drive about 20,000 miles per year on primary car and about 10,000 on a beater. Gas in my area costs about $2.32 for premium (6.1) and $2.20 for 89 octane (5.7). That means I would pay about $495 more per year in gas for the SRT8 - $41.30 per month.

Now, I put it to you - is $41.30 per month worth smoking those pesky Mustang GTs and 300Zs or what?!!!
