800 mile drive home with my new SRT Magnum..

Well I flew to Detroit yesterday and picked up my 06 SRT8 Magnum.. Black, Options 1 and 3, sunroof and side airbags..
I had a 05 BLue RT for over a year so I am not new to the LX's..

First thing I noticed when I opened the hood was that there was struts to hold the hood up..!! The 06 SRT8 I test drove at the local dealer did not.. I thought all 06's had the little metal thing to hold the hood up..

The transmission in the SRT is much different in manual mode than the RT I had, if you put it in manual mode, it holds each gear, and if you stop, it goes to 1st gear and holds it till you shift.. I also noticed that when I brake HARD on the highway, even over 80MPH, the car downshifts, it feels wierd but I am guessing it is thinking I am about to go into a hard turn or something..
The seats ARE GREAT!!! I love them, they wrap around you well.. The brakes are better than anything I have ever driven..
The motor... OMG, it was hard breaking it in for the first 300 miles.. it is crazy fast, still kind of scarey.. I had a RT Charger and a Maunder play with me on the HWY, but first time we both floored it and I walked away, they both gave up..
Tires and rims.. I went on the HWY with 60 miles on it and it was shaking over 70MPH's, not sure why, will have to take it to the dealer, might just need to be balanced.. but over 90mph, it got smooth.... Rides hard and rough compaired to the RT, can not even imagine what the SRT CHarger will ride like if it is supposed to be sportier..

So, 2 days and 800 miles and I love it.. I ordered a Zoomers Exhaust for it on Tue before I even got it, should be here next week, can not wait!!!

I forgot to add that with only 800 miles I still got 19.7MPG and I did not use the Cruise and was still pretty hard on it..

I took it out this morning to play some because I missed driving it... It handles really well, it does lean but sticks.. My current car that the SRT8 replaced is a 05 Infiniti G35 6 Speed with handles like nothing I have ever driven.. the Magnum shows it weight but I think it could hang with the G35..
I already used the rear too.. Had a Honda Generator and 5 Gallon gas can in there today...

Please keep us posted on your progress with vibration. I posted on this a while back and quite a few people have had the same problem. On my first service they balanced the wheels and it was a lot better (At about 78mph) but now, 1200 miles on, it's gotten worse again.

    Cheers
