    300C SRT8 in stock

My dealer in Phoenix had a 300C SRT8 sitting on the showroom floor FULLY loaded. The car stickered at just over $45,000.00. They put a $10,000.00 premium on top of the sticker for a grand total of just over $55,000.00. That's W-A-Y too much to pay. It IS a sweet looking car though.

    My local dealer also!

Just took my 300c in for the leaking transmission gasket fix, and, I can't believe it! My local dealer, in the sleepy Chicago suburb of Downers Grove, has a beautiful black 300 SRT8 on the floor--also marked up an extra $10K !!

    What is this, Los Angeles?

Dealer says first person to drive it will be the buyer. Doors are locked and salesmen cannot get keys--only manager. Says it will be gone by weekend.

So... $10K premium + gas at $3/gallon = must buy! Gotta luv the USA.

This poses an interesting question. If the MSRP was $55,000 and the dealer did not add a markup, would anyone of you buy it? The value of an item for sale lies in the compromise between the buyer and seller. Depending upon supply and demand, one or the other is in control. Does any one of you weep for a manufacturer or reseller who has to take a loss to move dead inventory?

The SRT8's will be in very short supply, DC will/can only build a limited number. The final sales price will sort itself out over the next few months. Either that dealer will get the 10K or he will start to negotiate eventually. Other dealers will eventully force the price down as they get theirs and want to move them out.

We all own one of the very few cars that is not getting heavy rebate acton, so did we pay too much? Would you rather drive a Ford or a Pontiac for a few dollars less?

The value of the premium to own one of these lies with the buyer. I would never criticize another owner over what he paid for his ride. If we can afford a car in this price range, we should have enough smarts to know what we are doing and what we are getting for our money.

So would I pay the extra 10K, no, my desire does not stretch that far. However, I did pay 36K for a car that I didn't really need just because I wanted one and I don't regret it at all.

I'll echo this with the idea that the buy determines the worth. It's just like the muscle car price guide. They will list prices for hundreds of pages, but if you can't find a buyer, the car is worth $0.

If someone can afford to pay a 10k premium so they can get one of the first ones, I say go for it.

If someone buys it at that price, then the dealer is justified. If no one is buying it, then the price will come down.

well, dont get me wrong, i beleive in capitalism to the fullest. i just think of all the poor bastards after me who have to pay so much more. then i smile knowing i wont be seeing many like mine, and that i was smart enough to get it early.

ok, i retract. until i go to get my next one, the current price sounds fair :D

The daeler is Power Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge. (Formerly Lou Grubb) on Bell Rd. & I-17 in Phoenix. It was, I think, the medium gray. Very nice inside. Black leather seats with the SRT-8 logo stitched into the seat back. It was loaded with just about ALL the goodies. Nav system, Back-up sensors, etc.

I still say $10,000.00 over sticker is W-A-Y toooooooo much.

Nah... you're still in Chicago. In La they would have your leakin' 300 marked up $10K. You gotta love the law of supply and demand. But the pendulum does swing both ways. I remenber when they were getting $25 and $30K for PT Cruisers. Not now...

Geez! 10k over msrp. Damn that! I am still hopeful that i'll be able to get a Charger SRT at Msrp or somewhere reasonably close to that. There are a couple of really good dealerships around here that arent looking to squeeze every last dime out of you. It'll be my third Dodge vehicle in a row. That should count for something.

Someone will buy it for 10k over list. This is what will probably happen with the Magnum "8", which means my plain ole' Magnum RT was a really good deal.

Happy "only" 340 HP RT owner.
