I'm no insider, but there's a rumor heating up across the net that the SRT version of our beloved 300C is going to be unveiled soon. Has anybody else heard anything..?

Yep.....here it is. It's not an official unveiling, but it's a pretty good spyshot:Originally Posted by bipto

Official unveilings are 'usually' done at a major auto show. So my speculation is either the LA Auto SHOW in December 2004 or the Detroit SHOW in Jan 2005.
However, last years SEMA SHOW did get the Magnum in November 2003 prior to the production unveiling at the Detroit SHOW in Jan 2004.

What you are hearing is only "rumor" and what I am saying is based on fact and history - Every American car ever produced is unveiled at either of the 4 major US auto shows:
Detroit NAIAS (Jan)
New York (April)
LA (December)
Chicago (March)
That is fact and history and not just rumor.

Ya, you must be right...Originally Posted by E55 KEV
I wouldn't really call the SRT-8 300C a new vehicle. It's more like a new trim level on an existing vehicle. I don't think an auto SHOW is really necessary to "reveal" a new trim level. Remeber, the original Magnum at the auto SHOW was already an SRT-8.

Not neccesarily true. Cadillac used the 2002 Pebble Beach to intro the Neiman Marcus XLR and to announce the V-Series line. Granted the Neiman Marcus XLR and the V-Series Line are just trim levels, but basically so is the SRT-8.Originally Posted by E55 KEV

I agree with your analysis, (SOMEWHAT), however, It ain't going to change the fact that 'they' never unveil cars outside of any of those shows. Mercedes makes AMG versions of every chassis and you can call it a trim level but they are treated as separate cars and they unveil them like everyone else at a Major Auto Show. Sorry to burst any bubbles or ruin any hopes but the first change to see the production SRT-8 instead of just Spy Pics may well be the SEMA SHOW in November 2004. Other than that hope for the LA Auto SHOW in December. I can't wait either. :DOriginally Posted by Mike2thaC

Now I think we are just getting a little to anxious! That XLR would only be considered an unveiling if the XLR had never been seen anywhere before and it had already been seen. We can go on and on with this - I saw the Neiman-Marcus edition of the BMW 645i in their Christmas catalog prior to it going on sale.Originally Posted by DMAG
First of all, putting in a different interior and new color seats or wood is a "trim level" and HAVING a new motor, wheel, tranny, body kit etc. like the SRT-8 is a new car and not just a trim level. When you are building a Mercedes E320 you can not SELECT the box for the E55 interior and yes I want the E55 engine in my E320. C'Mon lets be realistic!

I consider the V-Line of cars by Cadillac the same as the SRT vehicles FROM Chrysler. If Cadillac can announce that level of car at Pebble Beach, why can't Chrysler?Originally Posted by E55 KEV
As much as I'd love to say the SRT cars are "new cars"...they aren't. To that reasoning, is the Mustang Cobra a different car then a base Mustang because it has a new motor, wheel, tranny, body kit, suspension, etc? No. The SRT-8 is to the 300 line what the Cobra is to the Mustang line. A ultra-high performance version of the same car. A new car denotes much more to me....but, that is just the humble opinion of an old car hack like myself. Everyone is entitled to their own reasoning. I repsect all thoughts FROM everyone on this board.
Either way, I am reserving speculating what, if anything will be announced at PB this Friday until.......this Friday.Rumors abound FROM the LWB Imperial to an SRT derivative. Let's wait and see.

What am I missing? Except for the different wheels, it looks like any other C.
