19.7 MPG on the SRT8 today!

Drove back from Lake Havasu City, AZ to So. Calif. this morning. About 315 miles total with a lot of flat desert and also several hills and one climb and descent of almost 4K feet. Cruise control @ 80 MPH most of the time with a few WOT passes of some A-holes.

I was pretty impressed with the MPG since my last vehicle got 9-10. I've been getting 12.7 around town lately with numerous WOT, 1st-2nd blasts. I'm pretty happy with that too.

Does anyone else have any numbers or input on the SRT8 MPG?

C'mon Q...your braggin' about the great gas mileage was why I got the SRT8 in the first place!LOL

My display reads from 8.7 to 9.2 around town.

Even that's better than my 427 SBC ...but it still ain't great.
Even after I reset, the display still reads 9.something sittin' there at idle.

I'll have the dealership look at it, along with some other minor issues, like my tires not holding proper pressure...at least according to the tire moniters.

I'll get off my lazy but and slap a real gauge on 'em tommorrow. If I'm not too tired from that, I'll figure out my MPG as well...the old fashioned way.

I made a trip in the MSRT8 last week from Houston to the other side of Austin and back..... EVIC said 19.3 for the trip..... actual MPG based on fuel put in the tank.... 19.1.

The best tank I EVER had in the RT was 21........ No complaining here!
Driving in the city is another matter........

Did about 150 miles on Sunday. The first half going east on 78 to NJ evic read 21.9. The return trip, west with a good head side wind, evic finished with 21.2.

This was with the cruise set runnning about 70 miles an hour with a few miles at greater speeds.

Thanks guys, it was really the only last reason I'd not get an SRT8 and it's dwindled away looking at this...

Got my present ride in for repairs at the shop. One of those oh so reliable Japanese vehicles that's dripping transmission fluid on my driveway.

At least the rental is a 300!

I tried to stay out of the throttle on my last road trip and set my cruise at 78mph. I had to rip around a car now and then and a half hours worth or highway driving netted an average of 19.9mpg. I am more than happy with those numbers! At 70mph I saw 21.3mpg on a flat section on highway over about 25min. The trick is not giving in to the urge to push down on the GO pedal. City I am getting between 10 and 14 mpg depending entirely on my driving habits.

I am getting about 21-23 mpg on the highway and about 15-16 mpg in the city and 12.92 seconds in the 1/4 mile. Whoever is getting 9 mpg, take your car in, somethings badly wrong.

Our SRT-8's avgs about 16.8 to 17.4 mpg with about 50/50 city/hwy driving. I think I am getting better gas mileage cause I really don't power drive it unless I am the track. I will rarely go WOT as most of the time I am with the kids or the wife and kids. Speaking of which, I have been wanting to vent for a while. The most listened to SIRIUS station in our SRT-8's is KidsStuff formerly channel 12(I think) and now channel 116. AAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I feel much better now, thank you.

    MCeasar,

It's quick as hell, with that new car smell.
And it grabs you ass, when you make the pass.

    From 0 to 60, it's really quick.
From 60 - 0, it will make lot's of people sick.

Bottom line. This car is fine!
You'll eventually get yours and I really love mine!

19.6 - 19.7 is what mine has on the average since new. (Even after a TCM swap and reset.) People saw the 6.1 is a pig on gas... but mine is not too bad. (Unless the PCM is lying to me...)
