It is my high honor to be selected into the ranks of the LXOM’s. Hopefully, I have lived up to the standards that the previous selections have set.
As for a little background, I am 62, married for 42 years and have 4 children and 5 grandkids. We grew up in central Indiana farm country, just north of Indy. Following the American dream, or my vision of it, we have also lived in Texas (13 years) and Minnesota ( 4 years, brrr). We currently reside in Old Hickory, a suburb of Nashville, TN.
Adding to my colorful background, I have been a machine operator, printer’s helper, technical writer, car salesman, car sales manager, motorcycle sales manager, insurance agent, insurance sales manger, software tester, programmer, bookkeeper, programming manager, technical support manager, Director of R&D and Director of Operations. These jobs were spread out over 42 years and were mostly in small companies. So, with the moves and job changes, I have gotten used to new situations. I have been laid off, downsized, found the doors locked, quit and been fired, all more than once.
For the last five years I have been running my own operation. I usually call it a “junk business”, but I tell my banker that it is a “secondary market operation specializing in Computer Telephony Integration equipment”. I have been running this business from home and it has been successful beyond anything I could have imagined. So successful, that I will be moving it out of the house by the end of the year.
So, I have whole sleeve of “been there, done that” badges. Hopefully, I can occasionally pass on some of that hard won knowledge to others. Lot’s of up and downs, but today, my glass is ¾ full and that is the way I look at life.
How about cars? Well, I have owned around 45 of them over the years, mostly what I could afford at the time and what the family needed. A lot of junk and few good ones, but never a real “muscle car”, although I was around and paying attention when all the hot ones were new.
My path here was similar to many of the rest of you. I saw the Super Bowl Magnum commercial and the ones that followed. I was getting tired of driving a practical 4 cylinder Caravan. I decided to buy a Magnum just because I wanted something special and not just another driver. I don’t need to compromise any more.
Research led me to Dodgemagnum.net over a year ago and helped me finalize my choices of options. I ordered, couldn’t wait and bought mine off the lot in December of 04. Never “modded” before, never had the inclination or the money or a worthwhile car. Now I have done it, thanks to the 120,000 plus posts read here. I consider my self enthusiastic about my car, but not obsessive, although I have started using detailing spray. Hmmm?
So now I have a hobby and a bunch of super people to talk with. Hopefully, I can meet some of you soon. If I have helped or amused with my posts, thank you. If I have aggravated or mortified, I apologize. It has been an “E ticket ride” (you youngsters ask your elders what that means). AWD is the right way!!!
