So how does one begin to write something like this...
As I sit here trying to figure out how to put these feelings into words, I'm going back over the list of past winners and am thinking to myself “how in the hell do I stand with all these others that have been given such an honor?” Suffice it to say the first 40 years of my life were not on a path to have what would have been considered a normal life let alone an honorable one to stand among the “Best of the Best” on LXForums. It wasn't until Dec 95 where a life-changing decision was finally made to get sober and be a productive member of society and without that none of this would have been possible.
I want to thank those responsible for the nominations and votes. You've tried a number of times and with the stiff competition I'm surprised this one made it so it's to the great members and friends I've made through here I am indebted.
From my first car when I was 14, a 62 Ford Galaxy, which was run on a marsh flat behind the house I grew up in, to a 69 Road Runner and a 71 GTO there was always an interest in performance. Now that life is back to a somewhat even keel I've rediscovered that interest and ran with it. I started back off in a 98 Grand Prix GT. I thought it wasn't bad but just wanted a little more so I then tried an 02 Bonneville SSEI which at the time I thought it was a great car. A friend at work and I had always been going back and forth about cars and one day he asked if I had seen the new Chargers that had come out. As I was looking around at the time in 06 for a new car I went by the Dodge dealer near me. The salesman there saw I was driving the SSEI and started talking to me about a Charger SRT and grabbed the keys to a Brilliant Black one off the rack and threw them to me. That's when it was the beginning of the end of my Pontiac days. “Holy Crap!!” I said as we hit the first on-ramp to the highway. We finally get back to the dealer's and being the salesman he is, he wants to immediately start the paperwork and I'm like “Hold on pal, let me think about it for a bit”. Again being the salesman that he is says “Ive got another SRT here, you want to try that?” We go out and get into an Inferno Red Magnum and proceed to go the same route we just went in the Charger. Now I don't know what it was about the Magnum but after driving it, that was the end of Pontiac days and the beginning of some of the best experiences of my life...
Didn't take long for the modbug to get ahold of me as the first things to go in were the K&N CAI and Billy Boat catback.
That was good to get me second place in the May HHP Mopar event at Englishtownwhere I won a gift certificate on a Protorque 2800 stall TC..
After a season of running that combo, modbug decides he wants more..
Which lets have some fun.
Modbug's last feeding was the addition of a small nitrous system of which I don't have any pictures yet.
Lastly, for the people I've met at the events I've attended, all the folks at the ETown races, my fellow NEMC members as well as the vendors and members of LXForums, I want to thanks... You all make this a great place to be and make these fun times possible.
