Well, where do I start? Other than to thank you all for this honor. I’m not sure what it means to be LX Owner of the month, but I for sure know what it means to be part of this forum. This forum has been an invaluable source of information and friendship for me. A place to discuss my passion for Dodge vehicles especially our Magnum, a place to learn proper way to drink Guinness Stout, and a place to look at that picture Hammerfoot uses in his postings.
Who am I? Just an ordinary car crazy folk FROM a land far away. Father of 2 girls and one step-daughter, lovely wife that tolerates my unending automotive expenditure, and Brothers that need as much psychiatric help for their obsession with cars as I do. I am as fond of my ponds and the colorful Koi in them as I am of my 2 Boxer Dogs. I am blessed to have a profession that is also a passion for me. I believe that as an Architect that I have an obligation to the society at large, not just to the person that paid me. And that we Architects have so much to contribute to our society, not just the buildings we design, but also the cultural dialogue we instigate with our designs.
As my wife will say I am an Alien FROM outer space, well not that out there. I was born and raised in West Africa, came to the US to study Architecture in 1980 at Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia, here I am 24 years later one of the principals at a 300 person architectural firm, with offices in California and Phoenix, Arizona.
Before coming to the US, I remember going to the USIS office in my birth country (branch of the American Embassy) every Saturday morning to read American comics and magazines, especially those with cars. I developed a passion and love for V8 American Cars. Any thing with big V8s. Especially modified Dodge vans like the van used by Mr. T in the A Team! Dukes of Hazard Charger, etc. I was hooked. So when I got to this country, it was like a kid in a candy store. That love and passion has not faded. Actually it’s now worse since God has blessed me with the resources to indulge in this hobby with more vigor.
I do not feel that I have earned this LXOM acknowledgement in the way Magnum Freak or others may have, so in the coming months and years I hope to earn it with meaningful contributions and light hearted humor. :D
