    February 2005 LXOM: BrilliantBlackHemi

    Written by BrilliantBlackHemi

Thanks for choosing me to be LX of the Month. I'm proud to be the first 300C Owner to receive this honor. I enjoy reading and participating in this forum everyday. There are a lot of great people here.

For those who want to know a little bit more about me. I'm a 35 year old FROM the Richmond, VA area. I work as an Electrical engineer for a big tobacco company when I'm not a busy being a Chrysler Enthusiast. I've been part of the 300M Enthusiasts Club (www.300mclub.org) for 4 years, and the club's president for the last 2 years. I own a 1999 300M and still love the car. I developed a real passion for modern Chrysler and Dodge automobiles as a result of my affiliation with the 300M Club and many friends at DodgeIntrepid.net.

This passion eventually took me to the New York Auto SHOW in 2003 to see the debut of the next generation Daimler Chrysler sedans. I was in love FROM the first pictures I saw on car-truck.com (I miss that site), and driving 6.5 hours to New York City was nothing. Seeing the new 300 and Magnum concepts in person for the first time, left my heart racing and my spirit soaring. I knew FROM that moment, that I would have one of these new LX vehicles.

Well, an agonizing 12 months and several auto shows later, I was at the Chrysler Premiere night at the local dealer. I was able to finally see the car, not on a spinning platform, and sit inside. I was hooked FROM the moment I sat in the driver's seat. The only 300C was in the showroom on display for the event, so I could only test drive the V6 model. It was a great ride and I was surprised the V6 had plenty of power. Still I had to drive a HEMI before I could decide.

The next day I went back to drive that showroom car as promised, but I waited until after work and it was already sold. The dealer called a couple days later when two more 300Cs came in. Again I stopped by after work and again they were sold. So with the next shipment, the dealer calls, and I take off work and go right way for my test drive. I was in line behind 3 others waiting to drive it. I remember thinking WOW, this is going to be a hot seller. Finally, I get to drive it and the sales guy got busy with another sale and just handed me the keys and said “Can I trust you?” :D I was gentle, sort of…what a car I was thinking. I realized how much I missed a powerful V8 and rear wheel drive. I used to drive a 1970 Grand Prix in college, also a powerful sporty luxury car.

Well, I went home to think about 300C vs. Magnum and which did I really want. Given my attachment to my existing 300M, getting the 300C seemed like the natural thing to do. Besides I couldn’t wait until June for the Dodge Premier night!

I went back to find a loaded Black or Magnesium and there were none like I wanted, so I ordered one and then came the waiting, long waiting. I felt as I had already been waiting over a year since the New York Show, so 12 more weeks was almost too much. I know my buddy at Brampton was tired of hearing FROM me to CHECK on my car’s build status, and I knew the number to Chrysler Customer Service and my sales guy’s cell phone by heart.

Finding this site and you guys, is what helped me make it through those last few weeks. Finally, my Brilliant Black Baby arrived on July 28th, 2004, and the rest is history.

Thanks for reading my story on how I got here and why I’m a proud LX owner of the Month.

    i did the same thing.

I'm 61 years young, just selling my 95 impala SS. black in color. I ordered a 2006 brilliant black today loaded up, now just gotta wait 12 weeks till my new ride is in. This is the first car i have seen that i liked, that is the reason i kept my SS for 10 years, it was rear wheel drive, fast, comfortable, sporty and fun to drive.

Thanks guys for the support and the votes month after month.

Engine is that clean because of two reasons. I had about 1500 miles on it at the time and a little Mother's Back to Black.

With about 10,000 miles now and with cold weather, snow, ice, etc., it's gonna need a lot of cleaning to get it back. Rest assured, I will get her clean like new before any meets.

I can relate to your feelings on the 300M to the 300C too !!!! I had two Intrepid ES's before ordering my Magnum and they were excellent !!
