…and what a year it’s been…
I thought I’d peaked when I was awarded LXOM for February but apparently, you guys just can’t get enough of me.
In May Netsrac put on a fantastic second annual Montreal meet and greet, and a great time was had by all. When I was presented with the fnkychkn guestbook, signed by so many of my forum friends, I thought the day couldn’t get any better. Then Token and jaak announced the true reason behind the guestbook, which was to send me to a SRT track experience -- I was overwhelmed. And the next day at Napierville dragway, I got my first kill: SRThardware never had a chance against my mule. And I got to ride along with Hemi31 in his killer magnum.
In September, at the SRT track experience in Wampum, PA with Token, jaak, hemiwagn and Magnumb_SRT, along with jaak’s and Magnumb’s respective brothers-in- law. What a thrill that day was! I was able to try autocross and road course laps for the first time. I highly recommend this experience to all automotive enthusiasts.
Four days later, I was back in Toronto for training. After checking into the hotel, Token came by and we were off to Cayuga speedway for a little fun. My rented charger, although not as devastatingly fast as my mule, held her own. Then I had an opportunity that I simply couldn’t pass up: hemiwagn wasfoolishkind enough to allow me to pilot his rocket to a personal record 12.93 second run (thanks Greg).
And last weekend, I got to experience LXforum hospitality again: whelin invited me to join him for a hockey game at Toronto’s AirCanada center between my league-leading Ottawa Senators and his bottom-dwelling Toronto Maple Leafs. After the game, GDEEEEUP (who gave up her ticket so I could attend), kept me hummin’ on chocolate martinis while I drowned my sorrows. After putting me up for the night, they even gave a a Maple Leafs flag to hang from my antenna so I could show the world what poor judgment I have when it comes to betting on sporting events. Now who else but a fellow member could be so accommodating.
I have really enjoyed participating on the forums this year and hope to do so for years to come. Being voted LXOY is an unbelievable honour, one that shall not soon be forgotten. I thank you all.
To all other candidates -- keep on doing what you’re doing. You are all LXOY in my book.
