Thanks.
Thanks.
It will be shown at NAIAS in January, at which poin you can ORDER it FROM your dealer. Expect the first cars to be at lots by late March.

The Chief Engineer of the new Dodge Charger will be taking questions in a live chat on Thursday night 9pm ET/6pm ET. Chat with Burke Brown, Chrysler Group's Chief Engineer of the Rear-wheel-drive Platform Team, about the all-new 2006 Dodge Charger. http://www.edmunds.com/townhall/chat...hat011305.html (no registration needed for the chat)
Guess again. Ordering for the Charger has not been scheduled, nor is there an ETA for being able to order. My guess is folks will be able to start ordering by Late Feb or March. Production isn't scheduled to begin till probably late Feb. At which point, we'll start to see the Chargers SHOW up on dealer lots by April.Originally Posted by E8502
There is a lot of crap going on right now in the Dodge TOPS ordering system, frankly it is all jacked up. There is a lot of stuff being scheduled out for Feb, then you have things that are coming off restriction and going back on restriction.
I'm willing to bet that the Charger suffers the same fate as the Magnum did with ordering. Right now dealerships are getting RT Mags at a rate of 1 every 2 months. It has been that way since Premiere last June. Reason, Chrysler has been hogging all of the MDS Hemis for the 300C and bilking the Mag. Which doesn't make much sense when you launch a multi million dollar add campaign for the Magnum RT, then realize you're not suppling the engines. So they switched FROM pushing the RTs to pushing the SXTs.
Overall, Magnum sales are 50% of 300 sales nationally. In otherwords the Magnum was and is a complete and utter BOMB, Dodge's own version a Gigli. I've spent the last year listening to the drivel spilling out of DCX reps talking about how fantastic the Magnum is doing and will do. Kinda funny when you're sitting in a room filled with people representing 200 dealerships and only one person says they're doing well. We've stopped ordering Magnums because we can't give them away. Mechanically the car is absolutely fantastic, a dream to drive. However most women hate it, most men just want to drive the RT, they don't want to own it. Which is sad, but thats the way of it.
I'm looking forward to the Charger, because it could be Dodge's version of the 300. We'll see how hot it is as soon as it hits the lots. The Magnum was pretty hot when it first hit, people coming in to look but not buy. 8 months later and it is a cold fish.
I'm praying to God that allpar.com is wrong about the Caravan/Grand going the way of the Kahuna. Dealerships know the vans are getting a redisign for 06, but we know absolutely nothing about what it's supposed to look like. Trucks & Vans are our bread and butter, if Dodge brings the Kahuna to the public, I will personally kick Dieter in the nuts. Our German counter parts already screwed us (Dodge) out of the commericial truck market buy not offering Cab & Chasis due to the new hydro formed frames. They don't want to spend the extra money for the molds so we can get those back. Personally I think it has to do more with Mercedes wanting a piece of the US commerical market.
$29,000 Magnum SXT and no COMPASS. You can get a compass on a Stratus, but you can't get one on a Magnum. Who cares about a 120 programable features for the EVIC system? I like most people want a Compass/Temp/MPG/DTE and ET. I could care less about anything else, because once you set it, you'll never change it. Grrrrrrr....
Yeah this is a rant. I love Dodge vehicles, I just hate what our European counter parts are doing with them. If they keep up with the current crap, they'll run us straight INTO the ground. DCX doesn't listen to the dealerships, so if you have a gripe make sure you shout at Auburn Hills.
Be safe and enjoy the road.
:D Will the charger have a manual shift yourself 3 pedal 2 feet transmission ?
I read that it will not. I was hestitant about it at first, but my biggest problem is that automatic tranny's don't downshift all the time. The autostick FROM what I read will downshift on command. I can meet them in the middle of the road on this one.Originally Posted by gn300

2005 Magnum RT
that's a spooky thought i never thought about, but it could be true... we'll just have to see how the magnum does once it's not the only hemi car on the dodge sales floor. Personally i prefer the magnum's exterior appearance to the chargers... otherwise they are the same car and close to the same performance. We'll just have to see how big of a difference the wagon back makes compared to the charger.another thing:
"We've stopped ordering Magnums because we can't give them away."
I rarely see more than 3 magnums at a dealership and then out of 4 dealerships that are close by, there was only 2 R/T's available!
Are we buying a car that is going to be cancelled in 2 years?
I said that in November...Guess again. Ordering for the Charger has not been scheduled, nor is there an ETA for being able to order. Also, that Allpar page isn't updated, I will be re doing that page in the next month or two.![]()

People said the same thing about the Avalanche when it first came out, I can't count how many people thought it wouldn't make it past the second year. It's in it's 4th or 5th year now, I can't remember if it came out as an '01 or a '02, and its still going. Granted its not their hottest seller but it sells enough to keep it marketable. Thats what I think will happen to the Magnum, they had to know when they released it that it was going to be a niche vehicle and its sales numbers would represent that. The Charger will hopefully be their "bread and butter" car that will have the larger sales numbers. I personally loved the Av and knew I would have one FROM the first time I saw the concept, the same way I felt about the Magnum.Originally Posted by HammerFoot

[quote="RumbleBob"]Half the sales of the sales of the 300 and it's a bomb? It's a niche vehicle and wasn't even supposed to reach 50% of 300 sales (when they didn't think the 300 was going to sell like gangbusters)Originally Posted by E8502

Well, what were the projected sales numbers? I would think that 50% of 300 sales is pretty darn good considering that the car is a station wagon (oops, excuse me, I mean Sports Tourer).Originally Posted by RumbleBob
Everyone I know loves the Magnum, men and women alike. In fact, I know two people that are considering buying one after seeing mine "up close and personal".
I guess if in the end it's a sales flop that's fine by me, as I'd rather own something that's unique anyway. I can say though that I hardly ever see other Magnums on the road.
Midnight Blue RT RWD; Ordered 10/2004, built on 10/23/2004, arrived 11/16/2004. Yes my signature is WAY old!
When the Supercharged Magnum concept was unveiled in 2003, they said that it would be north of 20,000 units a year and hinted that about 30,000 units was the goal.
The Magnum sold just shy of 40,000 units for its abbreviated 2004 run. Not blockbuster, but certainly ahead of projections.
