    weird squeaking noise....

At some point over the weekend, I noticed that my car is making a squeaking noise - sounds like its coming from the front wheels. I was thinking it's the brake pads that may be wearing out and that's the 'warning squeak', but it makes that noise when I'm not using them. Anybody have a clue of what this may be?

since you think it's the brake pads, i'll assume the noise is not from jouncing of the suspension and is wheel speed related. does it go away when you apply the brakes?

Nope, it doesnt go away, but it doesnt get worse either. I don't think its the suspension either. It's a constant sound, and it stops when the car stops.

    Hmmmmm!
Funny my '07 Charger RT with the road & track package just started making a squeaking nose coming the front wheel area as well. If I just bounce the front end with a hand you hear it. I have new after market rims (same 20 x 8.5 as came stock) but with 275s all around opposed to the 245 stock tires. Anyway I am bring the car in for a rattle in my roof (in the area where the sun roof retracts into roof). I'll let you know what they find, she's going in this Friday.

I've got the same squeaking noise I've noticed when I'm cruising with the windows down. Sounds like brakes, but touching the pedal doesn't change the noise. Also sounds like wheel bearings, but the car only has 3500 miles on it? I need to go to the dealer for a coolant flush and will post their comments. Any other ideas?

I read somewhere else on here that others have had wheel bearing issues. If I recall correctly they also have a shimmy associated with it at about 73MPH. I have the shimmy and wheels were removed and rebalanced last week. Didn't improve the situation. Nor did re-torquing the wheels after the DA slammed them back on with a air wrench. Musta used an old socket too as all the lugs now have nice rounded corners.

If it's the same squeak that I have, it's definately brakes. Mine usually only do it during very light braking and it goes away as I add more pressure. Sometimes, when cornering hard, it'll squeak a bit too. Dealer inspected brakes and said all is normal and the metallic pads will make some noise especially in warmer weather. Does that sound right to you fnky?

Another thing, which may or may not be relevant but I thought I'd throw it out there....

it doesn't do it ALL the time. meaning, it doesn't start making the squeak until I've driven the car for a few minutes.
