    Post SRT-8 Engine whine solution?

My friend here in Phoenix had his brand new SRT-8 Charger purchased back by DCX because the dealer could not eliminate a whining sound coming from under the car. My car has the same noise, and the SRT-8 Chargers, 300Cs, and even Jeeps had the same noise coming from them when I attended the SRT track experience. It turns out, according to my friend (who got a brand new red SRT-8 in the exchange for his original car - it has the same noise again), that they have determined the noise is from oil squirters that are aimed incorrectly inside of the motor. It appears we are all going to have our cars in for this internal engine issue to be resolved.

    FYI,

    C.

    Fast,

I ran that by my inside guy for confirmation, a laugh was the response, honestly. This is the same guy who confirmed the AC cam spec thing for me.

Mine has the whine as well. It only happens once the motor has warmed up fully. Sometimes if you're sitting at an idle and tap the gas, the motor will idle slightly higher, and the whine dissapears.

I am in the process of a buyback myself.

oil squirters, as you call them (oil jets, as DCX calls them), are only used on 6.1L engines. they attach to the bottom of the oil gallery and are aimed to "squirt" oil to the underside of the pistons to aid in cooling. never had anyone complain of a whine but i'll have to listen for it next time one comes in.
Izzy pics money talks. unfortunately, mine usually says... "good bye!"

Drove the Jeep SRT8, thought the whine was coming from the rear end. Motor sounded nice.
