Seems like an electrical issue.
took my dad to run a few errands a few hours ago. went to walmart and probably stayed in there for 20minutes. i came out to my lights on however the headlight switch is in the off position. i remember a year back my manager had a problem in his ford escort; his brake lights would be on but the car would be off and the pedal wouldnt be pressed so that is where my assumption came from. any help would be appreciated. i was going to take it into the dealer within the next couple of months anyway to see about my other problem that rests in my brakes (when i hit my brakes i hear and clunk and my brake pedal goes down a little more.) i have read a few threads on here about the FCM and the headlight switch itself. if there is a way i can do a DIY before i take it to the dealer i will do so. thanks in advance. any insight on the brake problem would be appreciated as well.

Did you use the keyfob to unlock the doors as you walked up to the car? On our Charger the lights will turn on when you unlock the doors and shut off once you open the door.

I did but I did not hear the door mechanisms unlock the door. I also tried to lock and unlock it right beside the car and I not no response whatsoever from the keyfob. Then suddenly after a few attempts it unlocked.

Sounds like a problem with one of the modules in the vehicle. Can't remember what they call it on the Chargers, but it's called the body control module on my truck..
