Scenes from the Dealership: Custom color "Daytonas", Two-tone SXTs, and more! (800k)

Went to the dealer this morning for the 15k oil change and A/C filter replacement. I had been out there earlier this week to take some pictures, but my wife's camera phone had a very dirty lens so it was all blurry. This time, I waited for a break in the rain, and went out with my trusty 5.1mp Cybershot:

    Silver Steel Daytona anyone?

    How about white?

    Stripes for just $1500:

Who needs the SRT-8 hood when you can have a fake, plastic one?

Ok, this looked pretty cool. It was an SXT with a two-tone paint job ($5k markup) and 22"(!) rims:

"Walkin' the thin white line on this smiling road. 40 days, I've been all alone. Draggin' my heart all across this world. I got 100 miles to go before I get back to see my girl. Aint got nothing, I got nothing to lose. I keep walking away these blues. The cup is broken, but it's half full. I got 100 miles to go before I get back to see my girl."

Oh, and the other thing was they had a lot of regular chargers (r/t and otherwise) with body-color-matched spoilers. They were marked up $995 for the "sport package".

I love the Charger spoiler, but I don't know if it's 1,000 lovable. I'd probably want the flat black, anyway.

I think i like the two- tone but i'd bring it down to the headlights and stop it at the rear window!

like a aar cuda that would take away the 4-door look!

Wonder how DCX feels about dealers making thier own DAytonas? Were they worked at all on the inside? Plaques?

No plaques, and the dash was not color-matched. Another one that was bad was that the first decal kit that I saw them place on a car was one that said SXT on the quarters and it was actually an SE.

I saw a bright silver one at the dealer in Fremont Auto Mall. Nothing about Daytona listed on the sticker, nothing special on the interior, just an RT with the Daytona exterior badging. Guess they're just making the Daytona clones for us.

I personally think that Daimler Chrysler might be a little pissed that they may take some money and sales away from their own line. 2 tones and stripes fine but Daytona Clones...dont sound right

I don't think DCX is going to care to much. The dealership had to buy the vehicle from DCX in the first place. Once bought, it is the dealerships perogative to do what is necessary to sell the vehicle. If they have to add hoods to the vehicle, and attract the attention of someone who could not afford, or want to have the HEMI, so be it. If they want to add stripe jobs to their vehicles so be it as well. Unlike books, once the dealership buys it, if it doesn't sell, they can't send it back to Chrysler.

A local dealer here put a daytone stripe on the sides with 3.5 high output and split the hood stripe and put charger on the hood!

What are those wheels on the Charger in the first photo? I'm usually not an aftermarket wheel guy, but they are sharp!

I still think that white is a great Charger color. For some reason it just looks right.

I am a proud new owner of a Go Mango Daytona, and was a little worried about all these "clone" Daytonas popping up. But I was a little relieved, when reading on another forum, that all "real" Daytonas vin numbers are registered as a "Daytona"

    Cheers,
    Mark
