Running Dynatech SuperMaXXs now
Jacked up car, roughly 20”, all the way around.
Removed air intake and took bolts out of the radiator overflow.
Sprayed down tube and muffler/midpipe clamp bolts w/WD.
Removed tag and bagged rear O2 sensors.
Removed both CAT-heatshield and CAT bolts.
Loosened muffler/midpipe clamp bolts and removed midpipe/CATs.
Removed tag and bagged front O2 sensors.
Removed exhaust manifold heat shield bolts and slid them out without much problem (in tact, no tearing apart like I have seen in other posts).
Removed exhaust manifold bolts and then the manifold (oil dipstick removed in this process).
On w/the new headers. Both slid into place without any problems. Top bolts are a Mother F’er to get to! Reused one stock bolt which the dip stick attaches to. Torqued to 20 flb.
Assemble the midpipe and high flow CAT into one unit. Then slid them on and tighten bolts.
O2 Sensors re-installed and tie-wrapped. The sensor extensions are queer as they would not plug into existing wiring without modifications. Used a dremel w/180 grit file to shave off plastic channels that didn’t match up.
4.5 hours since beginning installation... fired her up and check for leaks.
Lowered car and drove off like I stold it.
Notes:
90% of the work is done underneath the car. 25% of the header bolds were tightened from were the air box/radiator overflow were and on the other side near the fuse box.
As mentioned in other posts the lower radiator hose was rather close to the block. To hold it away from the engine two tie-wraps were used together ran it up a hole in the support beam (below the hose) and around the hose. There was no noticeable heat/wear damage to the hose, just a little preventive maintenance.
