    price advice

We have had a tough year finacially and now backed in a corner, I just can't keep our car payments. I have to part with both my car and Nan's car. I owe 22k on my car and 24k on Nan's. Mine has 17k of mods on it and Nan's has just a few mild mods on it (black headlights, LED tails, custom floor mats, custom engine cover, DVD/screens in headrests). They both have about 25k miles on em and are both magnum R/Ts.
I am thinking of asking 30k for mine and 25k for hers.
I know I could start removing parts from mine and sell em seperatly but I sure hate to do that. Hurts enough as it is ya know?
so what do you think? Am I asking too much for mine being that one can get a new SRT for just over 30?

It really makes me sad to read this. It's hard chasing a dream with a ball of debt tied to you.

    Best of luck.

Say it isn't so! Sorry to hear it and I hope it is a temporary situation.
You should charge a premium for your ride. It's been on T.V.! (Ok so it's Connecticut public access TV but still!)

Really sorry to hear this. I can't offer much help on the pricing. As I see it, it all boils down to whether or not you can find someone who appriciates all the mods you've done and is willing to give you some extra cash for them. You're definitely not going to get that at a dealer.

Best wishes and I hope things turn around for you and your family real soon!

I hate to say it, but you may have to bite the bullet and take the modifications off. You will get more for them that way, and believe it or not, leaving them on the car could hurt the trade in value.

Had decision to make, but a man's gotta do, what a man's gotta do. :(

    yeah
I can't trade it in cuz there is no money to buy another car. I am just hoping to get enough from somone who appriciates it to get Nan a 4-5k car that'll ride her and the kids around without breaking down. I'm gonna get something less than 500 bucks... prolly a scooter of some sort.

With all due respect to the other forum members, this type of question is best discussed with someone local. Your banker, financial advisor, the guys at the coffee shop are in a much better position to advise you.

I remember telling my wife, years ago, that I never wanted her to work. I wanted her to take care of the house and kids and if I had to work 3 jobs to get that done, I would do it.

Sometimes the dreams have to be put on hold to get past reality. I'm old enough to be your grandfather and I still work 2 jobs (besides drawing Social Security) because I have a life style I want to maintain. That pretty much means that, if I want to buy something, I don't have to ask the price or get permission.

I hate to say it, but you are finding yourself in a position that a lot of folks are going to face. You're going to work until you die. You have a talent that can be exploited while you are doing something else.

I've been talking to a few of my friends (my age) who are now experiencing that the value of their property has been dramatically reduced. Some have retired to areas where their expenses have increased and they can't sell their house for what it used to be worth. Now they're stuck.
It boils down to you doing what you've got to do, but be realistic. You might not be able to do all the stuff you like doing, but just getting older will limit that, too.

I hope you accept this as a positive post. You've got one life. Do everything you can to get through it.

Grin this is a tough read. I know you've worked hard to stave this off and I'm sad to see it go down as it is.

Tehking is right. When you mod a car you subset its marketability to 'that perfect person' who wants your mods and is willing to pay for them. Worse, someone who doesn't want your mods may actually consider your car less desirable. Hence the devaluation. It is unfortunately a common scenario. A modded car is a car you enjoy and not something you can expect to get any money out of unless you get lucky.

With that said, it doesn't hurt to try and sell it as-is, at least for awhile. You may indeed find that person.

Its going to be a lot easier to sell the car to the audience you have here, as well as of course EBay. Try there first.

    Hey Grin

It sucks to read this post

You were one of the first that I remember when I joined up. When you had a chance to have your own show I was so happy for you.

Life has not been easy for me of late, so a few people urged me to watch the movie The Secret.

It is supposed to be a very helpful insight into acheiving lifes goals.

I have not watched it yet, but will soon. If I find it helpful, I will send you a copy.

I know it is not much, but it is the least I can do.

    Good luck

    C.

Man.....Going to be hard to sell a modded car. I my opinion you should list it on ebay. You get national coverage and people who are looking for modded cars. As far as Nan's a couple of grand under book of an average condition car is what they are bringing on the street and worse at the auctions. Local dealer auction data is where dealers read to establish local current values.

Sorry to hear this Grinner.I have been there and it sucks.Your going to eat the mods no matter what happens if you leave them on the car.I suggest removing the easy ones and sell them seperately.

Well thats unfortunate, I hate to hear that. I would have to agree with pretty much everyone else. the car wont catch a lot as a whole with the mods unless the right buyer comes along. if you can return as much to stock as possible you may get very close to even with what you owe. Take the mods that you can get off and sell them here or ebay and recoup what you can. its not ideal, but you are moving your debt in the right direction.

I always try to keep the oem parts in storage for that day the car has to go.

    good luck bud....

Wow, unfortunate man. I'm just wondering, is there any way you could swing keeping 1 of the cars, and sell or part out the other? I don't know your financial situation, but sometimes you can start to break out without getting rid of everything. I wish you much luck, and keep your head up, it will pass!
