    Outlet size on Stock Resonator

I want to replace the tips on my 2006 Charger R/T. I was thinking I can just cut the existing tips off just after the resonator. Does anyone know the size of the pipe coming out of the resonator? The tips are 3.00 in but reduce down to 2.25 or 2.50? Thanks

Here are the tips I'm thinking about:

Im pretty sure its 2.25" but dont quote me on it. I had my stock tips cut off and I welded on new flowmaster tips and im pretty sure the inlet size on them are 2.25" I recently cut off my resonators to put on my blastin bobs. I have the resos laying in my garage, I can go out and measure them tomorrow and ill post up here.

You would have to cut off the OEM tip, I'm not sure what the OD is for the tubing.

Those are the exact tips I used to have on my R/T before I put the blastin bob setup on it. I bought the 2.25" inlet with the 3.5" outlet and it fit right in there with a 2.25" pipe in between the tip and the reso. If you go with the 2.5" inlet and 4" outlet on the tip, im sure the muffler shop can spread one end of the pipe so it fits in the tip nicely.

Its hard to see in the pic but the tip is welded to a short length of 2.25" tubing on one end and the other end of the tubing is welded into the resonator. I had them for about a year before I took them off and the tubing was really rusted so you might want to spray some type of coating on it so it wont rust.

I used a micrometer on the tips where it reduces from 3" and it showed 2.5". I think if I have the shop cut a little off the length of the new tips and leave a short stub of the old tip coming out of the resonator it will work. I will post pics after installed. Thanks everyone.>>

I had those same Flowmaster tips on my 06 Magnum R/T and they held up nicely since they are stainless steel.

I like your idea of cutting the stock tip before the 3" bell. So that section is 2.5"?

Do you think a larger tip will increase the sound at all? Keep us posted how it turns out.

The section of pipe is 2.5". I will let you know about the sound, but I have Flowmaster Delta 40's installed. I should get the tips on Monday, they were drop shipped from Flowmaster yesterday. I will post pics next week.
