My first time to the track with my Charger SRT8!

Well guys I headed up to Moroso last night (West Palm Beach, Florida). The weather was beautiful - upper 60's and not a cloud in the sky! I was excited to see what kind of times my new ride could lay down. I just bought this car a week and a half ago and it only has 550 miles on the clock! The track was packed so I knew I wouldnt get too many runs. I had to make every run count!

I did some reading on this site and a few others. My car is completely 100% bone stock. The only things I did were:

    1. Turn ESP completely off (holding button for over 6 secs).
    2. Tire pressure - Fronts 65psi, Rears 27psi.
    3. Put 2 small bags of ice on the intake between runs.
    4. Left the car in "Drive" (all shifts at 6,000 - no hesitation)

Man oh man did the car get some looks! I talked to a few people and met some really cool guys. I was the only Charger there, no 300's or Magnums either. But I did my best to represent!

First run - I didnt know what to expect launching the car. I just drove around the water and staged. I left really easy off idle. The car went:
13.55 at 105.39 with a 2.13 60 ft. Not bad for a shake-down pass to get familiar with the car.

Second run - I needed to try and leave harder. I drove around the water and backed up (not in the water). I did a small burnout to clean off the tires. (Car in "Drive" for burnout - as soon as it shifts into second I rode it out). I staged and brought up the revs to about 1,000rpm. The car went:
13.07 at 107.93 with a 1.99 60 ft! I was excited! On the way to the track I told myself I'd be happy with a 13.2 at 107 - so I bettered my expectations!

Third run - I decided to try and leave harder again. The car didnt even chirp the tires launching on the second run so I knew the tires could hold more. I drove around the water, backed up (again not in the water). I did alitte bit longer burnout. I staged the car and brought the revs up to about 1,300rpm or so. The car went:

    12.98 at 108.27 with a 1.96 60ft!

Needless to say I was extremely HAPPY! With only 550 miles on the clock I didnt expect to dip in the 12's. These cars are awesome! I only got 3 runs in last night, but I believe that if I could have ran a few more I could have bettered my time - I think the car can leave even harder!

Anyway, I had a great time! Oh, one last thing - I weighed the car on the way out...

4,150 lbs. with an 1/8 of a tank of gas - without driver.

I weigh 210 lbs. - So 4,360 lbs. total weight!

    I LOVE THIS CAR!

Welcome from our not-so-fast 300C in WV! You actually had your fronts at 65 psig! Must have been hard as bicycle tires. I didn't even think auto tire could handle such pressure - trucks yes, but normal autos... no. CONGRATS on a great car and joining us here!
Still in love with my first wife, and first car ('68 Charger)... Still have the wife!

Only had the fronts at 65psi for the runs - after I dropped them back to the normal pressure. Old drag race trick - more pressure = less rolling resistance...

    Thanks!

I didnt watch too much, but I didnt see any other Chargers, 300's, or Magnums there...

A few Vettes and GTO's running in the 12's. Quite a few SRT4's...some of those were fast! I believe one went 12.8x at like 114!

Anyway, it was indeed a fun night!
