    gauges

    does anyone know why they did not put a full set of gauges on the dash like oil pressure and a amp meter?

    Because, in all honesty, the average car buyer isn't going to have any idea what they mean, where the numbers should be, etc.

    The ones we do have are a concession to the performance minded-folks who can be a loud minority, but by no means an abandonment of the notion of the "idiot lights" that became the standard in the late 70s and 80s.

    My last mustang had gauges out the wazoo - trans temp, intake temp, bourbon tube oil pressure, tach, volts, etc, etc, etc. All aftermarket.
