Finally Took The Plunge - Removed The Side Moldings

I was busy this weekend. Took the emblems off the trunk in preparation for adding a trunk-blackout decal. Once I cleaned up the gunk left behind the trunk's finish looked good so, off came the side moldings. Must say I'm glad I finally came around and did this. I love the nice clean look the car now has. I then kept going by washing her with Dawn, using the clay bar for the first time and then re-waxed with Formula 113. Here's the results...

    The Naked Trunk...

    Look Ma no side moldings...

Compare the above pic to my sig picture I think she looks better without them.

Looks really smooth compared to the other pic. The side moldings were a little much with your striping and decals. Now it looks clean. You have a unique color combo, I like the black highlights, Rims, lip, Spoiler and Mud Flaps Wear'd you get the decals, front lip and mud flaps from?

The decals are from ridergraphix.com, great guys to work with. The front lip from moparsupercenter.com and the mud flaps are from my dealer.

Nice job. The Charger looks so much better without the side moldings.

Did you use the 'Dental Floss' method of removing the moldings and badges? Relatively easy?

Yep...well actually used the "fishing line" method. Used the fishing line the loosen the first 3 - 4 inches and then grabed hold and pulled...slow and steady...off they came. I did let the car set in the sun for a bit to get them warmed up.

I was skeptical about doing it at first, but I think it gives the car a more exotic look. Glad I finally did it too.
