A Chrysler trainer was heard at training yesterday saying we will be seeing a Charger on the LX platform as well as an Avenger (no other info on that one).

'I've heard rumours that the Avenger concept IS the next gen Stratus
I've heard everything FROM a Stratus replacement (which makes no sense replacing a mid size sedan with a car based SUV) to a new addition to the lineup.Originally Posted by jhrody

think, "all wheel drive car", which I'm sure will sit a little lower than the concept.Originally Posted by DMAG
How does AWD across the Dodge line sound? With the Mag getting it, next Neon, Stratus too, AWD might go across the car lineup.Originally Posted by jhrody

Jeep would cry.... I'm sure some stuffed shirt at Jeep has proposed making 4x4 cars. :lol:Originally Posted by E8502
Hey, people seem to love Subaru for it. Why not?
Besides, just about every car maker offers AWD cars now. Its a death knell not to have at least one.

As someone who doesn't drive in bad weather and prefers performance oriented cars, AWD is often a means to overcome bad design. In other words, FWD cars that are given a power boost are often given AWD to avoid some of the FWD pitfalls. This is the VW/Audi approach, along with the Japanese manufacturers (although Toyota/Lexus went RWD).
I make the observation because the LX platform is RWD and in my mind, doesn't need AWD except for those who insist on poor weather driving. Even then, traction control and a set of snow tires is usually enough for most drivers, even in the worst conditions (or so I'm told). AWD often hurts performance because of the additional weight.

If an automaker doesn't offer an AWD vehicle, the public thinks they are not up with technology. My own brother bought a Subaru while he was a Chrysler tech (he since has switched over to being a Lexus tech). Why? He wanted AWD. Chrysler didn't offer a car with that as an option. (Granted he got a WRX...)
