After completing the oil change and tire rotation on my Charger, the service technician stated that it was time to have my cabin air filter changed (43,000 miles). My response of course was thanks, but no thanks. They were more than happy to quote me a price of $30, just in case I wanted to come back and have them install a new one. I have changed the cabin filter in my Caravan so I figured that it couldn't be too hard. So I drive from Goodyear to NAPA auto parts less than a mile up the street. Of course they don't have it in stock but they are glad to order it for me and it would be in the store by the same afternoon. Price $14.25. I figure I am saving about $16 by going the DIY route. I was also just happy not to be paying $28 for the filter as I did for the Caravan. I paid for the filter but I have not gone back to pick it up yet.
My questions are:
1. Where is the cabin air filter located in the 5.7 Charger?
2. Would it have been worth it just to have someone else change it out? 3. Could the service tech have just been trying to pad his invoice?
4. Is this info in the owner's manual?
I have not driven the car in about a week because I like to have something to look forward to. I will take it for a spin and clean it up tomorrow.![]()

, CRAZY!!! I did the swap out in about 30 seconds
. This forum is always looking out for us. THANKS
Turns out that my R/T does not use an 'air conditioning filter' after all. I went under the hood and removed the access panel on the passenger side and there was no filter to be found. My owner's manual indeed stated that this is where the filter is located...If equipped.
Why sit around and watch everyone else live YOUR dream? Plus how many 330lb Samoans do you see doing standing dropkicks?
