Wash the car really well first. Clay the entire car, don't rush this part the more time you spend the better the results. Apply the wax with a good applicator in even overlapping rows. Do small areas 2'x2' at a time that way you won't start to rush. If you get tired finish the panel and take a break. If you can get a helper get them to remove the wax because you don't have any power your not going to get that far ahead of yourself. Its going to take some time but the more time you can give it the better the results.

Use a all in one wax like NXT it's great by hand and lasts a few months at least.

Don't forget to see if anyone in your area has a PC that you could borrow I have a spare that I loan out all summer I hardly see the thing any more.

    Good luck!

Bset way to wax is often!

Here is a tip, ever notice how the dust clings after a wax, try getting a bucket of ice water, lots of ice, drop in your cloth and wipe the whole car down, seems to remove the "cling," and the dust does not stick nearly as bad.

Make sure you give the wax enough time to bond with the finish and to dry before you wipe it off. Wax the whole car twice if you have enough time.

    Every 6 Months:
    1) Wash and strip off old wax using mild dish detergent such as Dawn.
    2) Clay bar the car.
    3) Meguiars Paint Cleaner.
    4) Meguiars Polish.
    5) Meguiars NXT2 wax.
    6) Meguiars Ultimate Detail Spray.
    7) Use 100% terry cloth and micro fiber towels.
    8) ICE DOWN YOUR HANDS, ARMS and SHOULDERS!

    Between the six month intervals:
    1) Wash the car by hand every week (never ever bring it to a car wash), and follow the wash with the detail spray.
    2) Every 6 weeks apply another coat of wax.

Remove bird droppings, bugs and road tar as soon as you find it on the car.

For some extra pop on your windows (and makes them easy to keep clean) use chrome polish on the glass (old school trick) before a show. Exterior glass only and never use it on interior tinted glass.

    Tip:
Meguiars NXT2 needs good drying time before removing especially if it's very humid. Wait at least 2 hours or more before removing.

A swipe test will show you if it's ready to be removed. Leaving it on for longer than needed will run the risk of dust or dirt to settle on the wax which you run the risk of pushing in to the paint when you remove it. If you are going to leave it that long I'd suggest you use the liquid and put it on very thin.

The best and easiest way I've found is to put a lambs wool pad on my rectangular sander and use it to apply cleaner/wax with it. Just be careful not to rub any edges with it or you can go through the paint quickly. This takes most of the work out of waxing reducing the time required tremendously.

Sears used to sell lambs wool pads for these sanders but no longer. I noticed that there are lambs wool stain applicators in the paint section at Home Depot that can be trimmed to use and also circular sanders lambs wool pads that can be trimmed to use.

What the heck is a rectangular sander? Is it a belt sander or one of those orbital sanders? Forgive me please.

    1. Wash the car.
    2. Dry it and let it sit inside overnight to dry completely.
    3. Clay bar the entire car using Griot's Garage Clay and Speed Shine. Do not worry about removing the remaining speed shine from the car.
    4. Apply 2 coats of Griot's Garage Caranuba wax.
    5. If you REALLY want peoples jaw to drop put on 1 coat of Griot's Garage Best of Show Wax.

Your car will NEVER look better.

I have the Griots Random orbital and machine polish. But I have used it on each car only once. The waxes protect so well that the cars do not get the scratchs like you get from other waxes.

If you live in a very hot climate like we have in Arizona don't use carnauba waxes. They won't last. They melt/evaporate quickly. Instead use a synthetic wax like NXT2 and others.

X2! Love the results with carnauba waxes but even here in NJ in the summer it flashes off to fast.

Unless the wind is blowing at hurricane force I don't think it's even a remote problem (although my car is garaged). I do use the liquid however (only because it's easy).
A lot of guys in our club complain about the NXT being hard to remove (because its not dry) even after 3 hours! With the high humidity here in NJ it takes 2 hours to dry completely.
