    Auto Door Locks - Help!

    Friends:

I have a new Charger with the R&T option, but no EVIC.

I tried to disable my automatic door locks using the method in the manual (turn key 4 times on-off, then hit door lock). At first nothing happened, but then after repeating the process with the seatbelt fastened, the car gave me a single chime just as the manual said that it should.

But, then when I started the car and drove off, it automatically locked the doors again.

These auto door locks drive me crazy, so I would greatly appreciate any help.

    Thanks,

    Doug

If you depress the "LOCK" button at the end of the procedure you affect the auto lock at 15mph. If you depress the "UNLOCK" button at the end of the procedure you affect the automatic unlocking with the driver's door. See below. I bet you pressed the wrong button.

    Automatic Door Locks at 15mph:

For vehicles not equipped with the EVIC, the Automatic Door Locks can be enabled or disabled by performing the following procedure:
    1. Close all doors and place the key in the ignition.
    2. Cycle the ignition switch between LOCK and ON and back to LOCK 4 times ending in the LOCK position.
    3. Depress the power door lock switch to lock the doors.
    4. A single chime will indicate the completion of the programming.
    Automatic Unlock:
    1. Close all doors and place the key in the ignition.
    2. Cycle the ignition switch between LOCK and ON and back to LOCK 4 times ending in the LOCK position.
    3. Depress the power door unlock switch to lock the doors.
    4. A single chime will indicate the completion of the programming.

Thanks for the advice, but I am quite certain that I punched the lock button as described in the instructions. I did this twice, and had the same results each time.

After the procedure was completed each time, and the car chimed, I unlocked the doors, started the car, and drove off to confirm it worked. But I still had the auto door locks intrude each time.

I am wondering if it matters what you do after the procedure, after you get the chime.

    Thanks,

    Doug

I'm going to test both of these procedures sometime tonight. I'll report back on my findings.

Ok, I have to agree with your findings. Mine also would not disable auto locking at 15mph. Sounds like a TSB should be issued for this.

One good thing did come of this for me. I enabled auto unlock and that feature works. As soon as you shift into Park all doors unlock with the driver's door openning. My kids still can't get out on their own since I switched the child safety locks on.

I like the automatic door locks, but did set my personal settings to unlock all the doors when I open my door. Would that help you?
