    ATTENTION Charger DAYTONA owners!!

I REALLY wish I had my camera with me today! A friend at work rolled in with his Mango colored Daytona today WITH NO DECALS! Well sort of no decals. Before he even picked it up he had the paint shop remove all of the decals and paint where they were black, then clear coat over the top of the entire car. He paid about 1,800 to have it done, but the look is just incredible! I won't see him again until Tuesday night but when I do, I will take tons of pics and upload them Wednesday morning. They even left the hemi name on the hood and daytona on the side just like it was with the decal on.

Not sure if anyone else has had this done, but it is well worth it in my opinion.

Let me go ahead and say this before anyone else does:

Why would you spend money to make it look stock?

    Was it damaged?

Are the "decals" still mat black?

well.. I would assume it would now be "gloss" black instead of "flat" black where the decals were/are/-ish

Sounds interesting, I suppose it will be easier to wax, but I prefer the flat black and shiney yellow.....but thats just me.

OK, finally got some pics to show you. The hood looks dusty in the pic but it is done in brilliant black.

Looks fantastic! Now go make him join LXF!

The Magnum has a soul. It has a personality, something all too lacking in the automotive transportation appliances everybody else is offering.

I wonder if he asked them to swap the R/T and Charger emblems around too?

Hah! I hadn't even noticed that. I will ask him next time I see him. We work opposite shifts so it may be a while before I see him again.

I wonder how much he killed his resale. Essentially what he has is a factory clone. The VIN would match up to a real Daytona, but if I saw it on the street, I would think it was a fake Daytona
Ask me about my Lemon Dodge Charger. Last time in the shop was approx 41 days and it is still not fixed!

How do you figure 'factory clone'? It's a factory Daytona and it's numbered but it has been altered. I wouldn't think he would have killed the re-sale by much at this time but 20 years down the road it could go either way.

I am aware of the number, which would be why I posted it above. As for the 20 year argument on value, it won't go either way, it would go down. Why would this gain in value in the future when it is something any Tom, ****, or Harry could run out and recreate. If anything, it could be a cop out in case the decals become unavailable in the future. Sure, just paint the damn thing, no one will know!

I don't see it as a fake Daytona (or in my case a fake SRT8), actually I could care less about resale not one of the reasons I bought this car. One of the main items I disliked is that it had decals, so I took them off and painted them base black, flat clear. I won't need to be concerned about the life of the decal anymore and it will not peel, one of the problems now is people don't believe me and try to peel it :(

This modification definitely separates those that know LX and those that have no clue.
