When you buy a used car, does the warranty transfer?

Looking to get a used daytona and the seller says it has a warranty from the dealer still. I guess my question is, does the warranty only apply to the original owner and will it apply at a different dealership than where it was purchased? it is from out of state so I would hate to go back to that dealer if I had an issue.

Extended warranties will transfer too, but there's usually a fee for that.

ok, since I am buying the car from another person, what should I ask for? I want to make sure my local dealer will honor the warranty. I am getting a good deal on the vehicle so I want to make sure it isnt totally busted up or something since it will be for my wife. Other than warranty info and a carfax, what else can I do?

If you are the second owner and the car has remaining warranty, you can go to any Chrysler dealer and have the warranty transferred to your name. There is a fee for the transfer and you only 30 days after the purchase to get it done.

make sure you pull a car fax cause if the car was modified in the past or in any accidents it could void the warranty. buyers beware, carfax will tell you the remainder of all warranties from the manufacturer

Don't forget you have 3 years (36 months) or 36,000 miles whichever comes first. Thats from the first day the car was registered to the first owner.

Lifetime warranty is no longer transferable. It used to be for a fee, but Chrysler has since change the policy.

    Currently:
MBRP Cat-Back, Predator. Hoping I will get my AEFIS, or atleast some of my money back now

    Future:
Go to save up and work on making the fastest N/A engine out there. Everyone needs goals, no?

As long as you have the current mileage on the vehicle and the "in service" date, then you can figure it our for yourself. If the vehicle has been owned by someone else for 4 years, then the basic 3/36K warrenty is over of course, no matter what miles are on the car. Same for more than 36,000 miles, etc.
