Whats your take on upbadging

This is the problem that I have with the upbadging thing. When your driving around with lets say a SXT badged with SRT8 and a mustang 5.0 pulls up and makes you look silly this hurts the Hemi name. Up late just wanted to start some chatter. Not saying this to pickon or hurt anyones feelings. Just want to see what others think about this.

We've had this discussion here MANY times. I dont think there is anything wrong with upGRADING, meaning adding an SRT fascia on an RT/SXT. But just cuzz I have an SRT fascia, I'm not putting an SRT badge on it. Conversely, if you drop a 6.1, new differentials, Seats, suspension, Fascia, etc....in essence convertin your SXT to an SRT...I don't have a problem wit it. Guys used to do it all the time back in the day. IMO your only outta pocket if you just slap a SRT badge on an SXT without putting in the work to convert it to one. Just my 2 Cents.

I'd have to agree with Skizza for the most part on this, providing... after the conversion is complete, it isn't represented as a real SRT8. It's a clone, perhaps a very good one, but still a clone.

I would never put Mustang 5.0 badges on my Magnum,because thats not what it is,nor would I put SRT badge on my R/T.
I kinda have a problem with an SXT or R/T with SRT badges(but not the nose and hood,just the badges, i have issue with),but at same time I could see putting SXT badge on my R/T and confusing the hell out of people at stoplights,so I am a hypocrite.
Putting an SRT-R/T badge on an SXT is kinda like an Elvis impersonator vs the real Elvis,not as good as the real thing,and some people may think Elvis sucked as much as most of the impersonators do,after watching a Misrepresentation, of the real thng.
But thats what is great about the USA,I don't like the false badges and other people are free to false badge away,and we can co-exsist in harmony.(I will just talk crap behind their backs)

Only car guys will care or know for that matter! Regular people tooling around or commuters won't give a crappola as to what a person has done to their cars! IMO I wouldn't do it or would I put a Srt nose on my R/T or rear because it is not a Srt ! Sorry if I offend anyone not my intention !

To me, upbadging falls into the same category as a three foot high rear spoiler on a street Honda.

Well There is a memeber on a forums who has swapped the drivetrain from a donor SRT8 into his Mango Daytona. Calls it the Daytona SRT8 not sure if it is badged with a SRT8 badge but i am sure it is to advertise what he has done.

Whats your take on that.

Quite frankly in my opinion most gearheads from other brands know the SRT as the 6.1l Hemi 425hp etc. etc. etc.
Is your at a drag strip ALl your using is the 6.1l hemi 425hp etc etc.

The seats, steering, wheels, hood scoop, badges, faschia, diffuser, are all just BLING....

Just how we look at camaro and Say is it a RS or SS or a muckstang and say is it a 4.6 or 5.0.

Your purley inquiring about the engine and go power. Not the seat warmers or the dual climate control or the aux input on the radio.

Upbadging is definitely lame, but its their car and makes them happy so who cares? And as to your example about the mustang, I've seen way way more GT and even v6 mustangs with cobras slapped on them then I have sxt or r/ts with srt badges on them.

Not a big fan of upbadging, but at end of day, love what you drive, its your car and like it was stated earlier, 90% of the driving public no nothing about the difference between an SRT and a SXT, R/T vs. SRT. BTW, if you do this, just don't get smoked by a ricer and then he claims the kill.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm, I put on a 2012 300 SRT8 trunk badge and a new style Chrysler wing emblem on my baby because they are all black, silver & chrome and go with my bright silver car that is blacked out and chrome too.

The old style wing with the gold oval center, and the red in the old SRT trunk badge just didn't cut it anymore, had to make a change so everything flows better.

A bit of badge changing, but I'm still an SRT8
