What are our catalytic converters made out of?

Hey, i've been getting calls for my catalytic converters from these recyclers. Something is up. Are our stock catalytic converts made of a special metal they're looking for?

There's big money in cat recycling these days. To my knowledge, there is nothing specific about ours that they are after; rather I think its the platinum/rhodium/palladium that can be found in all cats.

people have taken to stealing cat's now. some dealership lost 50 pairs off of new cars a few months ago. don't remember the specifics, was on the news. nothing's sacred anymore.
