what is hal doing?

I was fooling around with stuff, and this is what I did, I don't know what Hal is doing for sure, but I think it's a system check.

First I turned off the ignition with the radio on.
Then while depressing the trip reset I turned the key on until the radio cut out but stopped before the started engaged. I held it on after all the bells stopped then there was one more bell and I let go of the key and the trip reset. The screen in the speedo displayed my software version and a PN.
The speedo and tack jumped up then dropped down in equal increments. All the warning lights were displayed. Then there were these three bars in the screen from long to short one after the other dropping down. The bars ran three times then there was a message that said done.

Ok so just what have I "done"
